It is a great hotel. I have stayed here many times. Fred least 15 years since it opened. It is always been a clean hotel and very friendly staff. The only negative that I have is that since Covid, there is no restaurant and bar downstairs. The hotel need to make an effort to get an operator in there as soon as possible. The whole beauty and attraction to the hotel was the bar and restaurant. It added a great atmosphere invite to the place. Other than that it was great

Stayed here due to proximity to Cabrini hospital where we had a sick relative. Underground car park has designated bays but is a bit confusing the first time you use it. Parking rates excellent. Room was on the 11th floor and fronted Dandenong road with excellent views over S/E suburbs and the bay. Too noisy though with traffic and train sounds insufficiently suppressed as well as outside light at night. No restaurant but a short walk to Derby St where there is a supermarket and several great asian eateries. The staff are helpful and work hard. The real issue for us was other guests with a 3-30 am loud party next door with smoking on the balcony and the night manager twice had to get them to stop the racket. The next night there were young people running around the hallways at 4-30am in the morning yelling and knocking on doors. Feel for the staff here as their client base appear to be fairly feral.

We were advised prior to arrival that we would be unable to use the rooms balcony as tradesman were working on the exterior cladding of the building. They would be present from approx 8am until 3pm, hence a 10% discount was offered. The reality was that tradies were given a permit to work from 1 am until 4 am as well. Ultimately a sleepless and noisy night!!!! Our room was a disgrace!! Delapidated with inadequate heating and no resemblance to online images. After one night we decided to move elsewhere and were offered a $30 refund for the inconvenience. It never eventuated.

The city centre and major sporting arenas are only a short tram ride away.
Extremely dirty. No daily cleaning or perhaps even Monthly ? The kitchen smelled bad and was dirty. No acces to cleaning supplies like a wipe or dish brush in the kitchen. Not even paper. I wanted to cook but felt like I couldn’t cause I’d get sick from all the dirt.

What a pleasant surprise. Hotel has just reopened after new management repainted, refreshed and refurbished the property. Very clean, welcoming in an excellent location and ample off street parking. Very good value for money.

Great buzzing classic pub. Loved the mix of vintage & modern decor made for a cosy and welcoming atmosphere. Meals were standard pub grub but good non the less. Staff were friendly, service great. Awesome place and outdoor area to hang out with friends for a meal and few drinks.

There are good aspects about this place but a couple of things let it down. I stayed in a 4 bed dorm which was really hot and stuffy and the room only had a small pedestal fan so if you’re on the top bunk you don’t get to feel any of the air. Also there was a strong smell from bins out in the street came into the room through the window. The backpackers was kept clean by staff but was let down by guests not keeping it tidy, particularly in the rooms. The building has an interesting layout and there are bathrooms and toilets on different levels and around corners, this worked out great as there always seemed to be one free when I needed it. There is onsite laundry facilities which is handy, and a big kitchen area which was well equipped. I originally booked for 3 nights but I cancelled after the first night as I couldn’t handle the heat in the room and lack of fresh air. The guy at reception, Aaron, was very understanding and friendly. He gave me a refund for the balance which was great. I would stay again but probably in cooler weather.

I was at smartstay for a week and found it extremely convenient for my week long stay in Melbourne. The room was clean and the shower was hot. Ann and her team are super efficient and care for their guests. There is a free wifi facility and the breakfast menu is fine. The only flipside is size of the room and no cupboard facility but the location, accessibility and the warmth of smartstay team covers up for it. Thanks, Ann and team at SmartStay :)
