A local artsy eatery in High Falls, NY. We serve fresh, local food made from scratch, never frozen, at digestible prices.
have been to the new incarnation of egg's nest a couple times and have been really pleased by this update of an old favorite.
they have taken the core of the old decor, edited it, and brightened the room. i love the respect for the history and original concept of the old nest and yet it feels fresh and up to date.
similarly, the menu retains a few favorites from the old nest (thanksgiving sandwich, burgers) but is largely revamped. last night i had a roast chicken breast with root vegetables and mashed potatoes which was excellent. simple, fresh, delicious, beautiful on the plate.
the times we've visited the service has been excellent. the host (owner?) is very friends, accommodating and seems genuinely interested in making sure customers feel welcome and are enjoying themselves. our waiter last night was attentive, knowledgable about the menu and the right amount of friendly. it appears that they are hiring well and training their staff.
i'm so happy the egg's nest is back and can once again be one of our regular spots.
recommended!

Absolutely love the bagels here - so fresh. The falafel, the salads, the smoked salmon, everything is prepared beautifully. It's nice to have a place to get real bagels! The eating area is cute and cozy --- perfect for lunch or just a peaceful spot to relax with coffee, a bagel, and the paper.

This place has been here forever. I avoid the music. Otherwise, you get vegetarian standards which can run from meh to YUM! but I never leave hungry, and am thankful for a staff that'll make changes for you and ingredients that are fresh and freshly made.

Met friends here several weeks ago and had a wonderful meal. Shrimp cocktail, crab cake appetizer and stuffed chicken breast were wonderful. Restaurant was celebrating India that night and their Mulligatawney soup is the best I've ever had. Servers were more professional than in the...MoreThank you, Jean! We're always striving to do well. Glad you were back and look forward to seeing you again!

Out for a drive we came across The Alternative Baker in Rosendale, NY. We decided to stop in for a snack. It was a cute place with some mismatched tables and a counter for sitting. Lots of things including sandwiches to choose from. Everything is made with fresh healthy ingredients. Some things were a little pricy but we settled on blueberry muffin and coffee. The muffin was one of the we have ever had. We decided to buy a fresh baked bagette and brought it home. We had it for dinner with eggs and sausage. It was delicious. Crusty, tasty, and just right. You can be sure that we will stop in next time we are in Rosendale.

I am on a trip and ended up in Stone Ridge, NY. Stopped by DD, didn't expect much because I've been in DD's in several states and some of them are managed very poorly. Not so with this address! Place was clean and shiny. It was a dark drizzly day, but instant sunshine awaited me when Megan with her big smile asked if she could help me. Three crew members present, store well stocked, people pouring in here, but the staff is just as friendly to every person that steps up to order. I am very happy with this location!

Stopped in for Sunday brunch while traveling to Pennsylvania. This is a quaint, tiny, local restaurant that obviously caters to the locals. There are only 7 tables and 8 seats available at the soda fountain. Go here for good, quality, homemade fare. We enjoyed the pecan waffle and the pancakes. Great food. And, you get real maple syrup. Hard to find in so many places. The place is clean and the staff are all very friendly and accommodating. You will not be disappointed.

Was on my way home from newburgh airport and stopped for dinner. Very pleasant surprise. Greeted immediately by friendly owner and waiter. Seated and greeted. Great martini, ok bread. It was healthy. Had the ribeye steak and mashed potatoes. Perfect. Wife had chicken and mushrooms over pasta. Delicious. No dessert and reasonable. Its a keeper.

I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed this restaurant. We were 4 adults and 1 child. We had Spring Rolls, Mozzarella Sticks, French Onion Soup, two specials which consisted of Lobster, Shrimp & Scallops, one special that was Chicken encrusted in a Parmesan something or other, and another dish that was Shrimp & Artichoke Hearts and some other good stuff.
Seriously though, I'm not good at describing theses dishes but believe me, they were all DELICIOUS. I don't think you could pick anything off the menu that wouldn't be delicious. And the menu has plenty of choices - all more tempting than the last.
The service was great. Prompt and professional. The atmosphere is definitely tavern. Simple, unpretentious, neighborly.
(My wife just told me to mention that the Lemon Vinaigrette salad dressing was divine, and the Risotto was perfect.)
Price for four dinners, two beers, an iced tea and a child's meal - $155.
The Red Brick Tavern is most def on the "Gotta Go Again" list.
