Reviews on British food in Yarm, Stockton-on-Tees, England. Yarm is a small town in North Yorkshire, England. The town is on the south bank of the River Tees and is historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire. The bridge at Yarm marked the furthest reach of tidal flow up the River Tees until the opening, in 1995, of the Tees Barrage, which now regulates river flow above Stockton. As the last bridge on the river before the sea, it was superseded by a new toll bridge opened in Stockton in 1771. The oldest part of the town, around the High Street, is situated in a loop of the river, and the newer parts of the town extend to the point where the River Leven meets the River Tees.

Bistro restuarant within a desinger clothing store in the centre of Yarm High Street opposite the town hall
We walked the main street at Yarm trying to find somewhere for a nice, but inexpensive meal. A lot of the menus outside the pubs and restaurants seemed a bit expensive and pretentious, but eventually we found the café inside The House (a sort of small department store on the main street).Even though it was busy, we were soon shown to a table. The menu had a good choice of food. The meals we chose were very tasty and moderately priced. The service was friendly. One disadvantage was that the toilets were upstairs - perhaps a bit of a problem for anyone with a mobility problem. Other than than, I can recommend this restaurant for its food and its reasonable prices.

Country Pub and Restaurant
Fourteen of us visited for Sunday lunch having pre-booked and ordered. The pub is well decorated with separate dining areas. They easily accommodated our large group. The staff were helpful, very attentive and obliging. Our food was served promptly and was all hot for such a large group. The mains, side dishes and deserts were substantial, well presented and delicious. We will go back. Also there is a large car park and children play area at the back of the pub/restaurant.

Village inn and restaurant serving food daily from noon with a good selection of wines and ales . Larger groups can be catered for
Dissapointing meal used to be regular visitors prior to change of management.Smaller meal choices for the senior members of the public are no longer on the menu.Prices have increased on standard meals but quality has dropped.Cod was a very poor fillet and batter soggy it was clear chips had beeen reheated.Staff very pleasant and welcoming but it is the food that needs concentrated effort or a lot of customers will disappear

Whether you're out for a quick bite, breakfast, a romantic dinner or family meal, our restaurant can take bookings of all sizes, choosing from our seasonal main menu or our evening specials menu. The restaurant is contemporary but comfortable & flexible e
The hotel is attractive and nicely furnished. The restaurant is an odd mixture between two rooms, which may be why service can be slow. Breakfast was sad. The coffee was not great. The bagel was not eaten and the poached eggs with boring bread left much to be desired.

Iâm not a veggie but my wife is and we both agreed that the lunch we had there today was beyond delicious! Thereâs a selection from Vegan to Vegetarian that should suit everyone. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Will return when next in the area.

Lunch was nice, Beef was nice and Yorkshire pudding was also nice. Would have liked a wider veg selection as it only came with a small amount of mash, 1 big BOILED potato (I prefer roasties!), about 4 carrots and some cabbage. The table next to us had Cauliflower/Broccoli cheese which we assumed must have came with the meal as we didn't see it anywhere on the menu as an extra and we didn't receive any. We also had to ask for more gravy and the horseradish sauce was about a teaspoon full in a tiny pot. Apart from that it was really tasty and the service was fast so we will be back to try again but will be prepared to ask for extras next time!

Now under new management - one of Yarm's oldest watering holes has had a facelift and refit but still retains the personality for which it's famed.
Went here on a Thursday night. Used to have really nice pub food however don't know what's gone wrong but it's not great . Burgers , hot dogs or sausage and mash unless like us when we got over the shock and decided to order -NO SAUSAGES !!! On such a limited selection the fact that half the menu was unavailable was pretty dismal. So we ordered burgers which quite frankly were ok , nothing special and way overpriced for the size of them . The one star rating was for the decent presentation . I fear they will have to up the ante a little , we for one will not rush back .

Muse is situated on the busy high street of Yarm open 7 days a week, serving from 9am breakfast, lunch, afternoon sandwiches & salads and dinner. The menus are made up of classic flavoursome dishes with a twist, served simply with the emphasis on quality i
Modern light cafe restaurant on Yarm high street. Parking is always a little difficult unless you use the large public CP behind the high street. The food is good. Service can get a little slow at peak times. It's all good but not great. Some of the seating at the back of the restaurant is useless. You can end up staring at a bare wall. They really need to put mirrors on back wall so guests facing the wall can see the rest of the room.

The power of Tripadvisor to get you to the out of the way places that you would otherwise be ignorant of! We arrived at 5 minutes to 2 on a Friday afternoon to meet up with my daughter; the polite enquiry of what time do you serve to was met with a certain amount of humour and warmth with the answer of two o'clock. Fortunately the specials board was close by and after consultation we had the top three on the Board; quiche, koftas and tuna on the general understanding that each of us would happily swap. These selections covered a fair range of world food which is a challenge but all were enjoyed; some helped down by the Rev. James beer. An excellent start to an excellent weekend. The theatre was a success as well!
