Hiking trails and art galleries abound in Stellenbosch, but it's wine that takes center stage. More than 100 wine cellars, most open to the public, surround the oak-lined South African town, and tasting tours operate daily. Winter brings a four-day festival celebrating the local vintages. The historic town center houses the trading-post style shop Oom Samie se Winkel, the Neo-Gothic Moederkerk church, and museums dedicated to toys, military memorabilia, autos and early life on the Cape.

Service was exceptional. Relaxing environment. Safe drive and close to any hotels in Stellenbosch. Host was lovely. Food delicious. Try to go at 6 as sun going down and beautiful scenery. Also tried the tasting menu. Was very affordable. My son had the fillet and chips and loved it. They are very good at accommodating children and offer several options. Do not wear high heels! Very casual.

Leading contemporary South African restaurant located atop of the picturesque Helshoogte Pass outside Stellenbosch, included on the 2014 Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice SA Fine Dining Top 10 list.
Amazing lunch on the deck with cheery, adept service. The food, view, and atmosphere were all excellent. I enjoyed wine from their grapes and oil from their olives (and the ice cream, which has a buttery quality) and then we walked some of it it off through their vineyard, which they graciously allow, permitting you to drink in the views. I would gladly return.

Delaire restaurant is situated at the winery and overlooks the Franschhoek valley. It offers approachable fine food with fresh and vibrant flavours. Guests are able to dine on the Terrace under a canopy of pin oak trees or within the spectacular interiors designed by the interior architect and decorator David Collins, whilst enjoying the breathtaking views Delaire allows of the Stellenbosch Valley and Mountains. The signature dishes include: Pickled Beetroot Carpaccio with goat's cheese fritters; Crayfish Lasagne with king oyster mushrooms; Pistachio Nougat served with rose geranium ice cream.
Good value wine tasting, especially if you can get a table outside on a good day, enjoy the views. Service was impersonal and run of the mill

One of the first signature chef restaurants in the Cape Winelands, the Jordan Restaurant with George Jardine brings top chef George Jardine’s brand of contemporary fare from city to country. The focus on the flavours of locally sourced, seasonal ingredients is evident from his kitchen vegetable and herb garden to wine barrel fish smoker and wood-fired oven. Expect smoky, smouldering country flavours in simple combinations on a contemporary plate – with signature smoked yellowtail, steamed Saldanha mussels, seared ribeye and springbok potroast. The main ingredient is enhanced by smoked garlic, aubergine, fennel, prune or potato puree. A trip to the walk-in cheese room to select your own board of artisanal Cape farm cheeses with preserves and breads rounds off a spectacular meal. Vintages from Jordan Wine Estate form the cornerstone of the restaurants wine list.
The meal was kicked off with a selection of breads from their bakery. The mussel starters were served in a papillote with coconut milk, lemongrass, ginger and chilli. The other starter was lime cured Norwegian salmon with horseradish creme fraiche, and organic young beets. The mains were, line fish and pumpkin ravioli. The desserts selected were the banana souffle, sorbet ice cream and a cheese plate.
The service was attentive. Our friends are locals and the meal was amongst the best they have had in Stellenbosch. What appealed to them was the availability of a vegetarian option.
What would have raised it to excellent would have been higher quality mussels.

We have been visiting the Stellenbosch area for a few years and have visited many of the restaurants. We find Clos Malvern to be the best overall. The food is excellent and well presented. The service is friendly and well timed. The location is beautiful. It is good value as the estate wines are offered with each course. Another plus is the relaxed atmosphere, you feel very comfortable and well looked after. On our recent visit we enjoyed some tasty dishes and look forward to returning.

My wife and I recently visited the Delheim Garden Restaurant in Stellenbosch. This was our first visit and it certainly won't be the last. We found the menu not too extensive (which always helps us in choosing a dish!) and prices were competitive. My...MoreWe are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your time here with us at Delheim. Indochine is spectacular. The four of us were literally all blown away by all aspects of this beautiful place.
The fusion menu, amazing wine list and the setting made the Indochine experience the best meal of our 2 week stay. The starter m my was one of the most interesting I’ve ever seen.
Try the grilled octopus & the spicy soup!
Indochine will not disappoint!

Ate here after seeing photos on instagram, it really is exceptional.
Under the trees, in a quiet vineyard, it feels like France.
Delicious food, excellent service. We had a leisurely 2 hour lunch.
Do let them know your food allergies ahead of time, there is no menu.

Helena's Restaurant at Coopmanhuijs aims to serve heritage food with finesse, often with subtle twists in the detail, thereby turning the familiar into the spectacular. The menu is designed to reflect the bounty of the Boland, with specific emphasis on freshness and food provenance - the "from where" and "by whom" of locally sourced (often artisanal) ingredients.
Couldn’t fault a thing at this great restaurant, food and service both superb. We shared the mezze platter to start and I then had the beef fillet which was really tender. Great pinotage by the glass too!
