Brewer spot with extraordinary craft beers and exceptional appetizers!
I've been visiting Rio perhaps once a year for the last 7 years as my wife is from here. A constant source of frustration as a Real Ale loving Brit ("craft beer" is the closest description for people from the USA I believe) and member of the Campaign for Real Ale, has been the distinct lack of anything but plain, fizzy lager. Fine in hot weather and sometimes that is what's needed. However, for those beer lovers needing variety and flavour, this place is the best in Rio. It is listed quite highly as a restaurant here on TripAdvisor, but it is more of a fantastic bar that does great snacks rather than a restaurant as such. The bar boasts a huge selection of bottled beer from around the world, including some local brews. They seem to have 4 beers on tap at any given time, plus a regular lager. Being IPA lovers (India Pale Ale), my wife and I tried two of the ones on tap, as they'd recently had an IPA event. We were not disappointed, and felt quite merry after 2 x 500ml glasses each of two different beers. Drinking the regular lager on draught in most bars and restaurants here seems to take ages to have an effect, so this was a pleasant change. While drinking, we ordered some snacks. Coxinha de galinha (teardrop shaped balls of seasoned, shredded chicken, breadcrumbed or battered and served with a dip) and something else, the name of which eludes me at the moment, containing beans, rice and a piece of Brazilian sausage. The staff were friendly and helpful, and our server had a good standard of English which is rare in restaurants and bars, even the ones in the most touristic areas. If you're staying in the popular tourist spots in the South zone (Copacabana etc) then this place is a taxi ride away, but not an unreasonable one, and certainly one that real beer aficionados should take. Any negative points? Not really. As a Brit it would have been nice to have seen more British ales on offer. They had Greene King in cans, but this isn't generally well regarded back home. Not that I go to Brazil to drink British beer, but we have such a rich variety and long history of real beer rather than lager, it would be nice to see us better represented. Also, an extra couple of beers available on tap would be great. It seems that space for this at the bar area is probably limited though. The place itself isn't huge, so make sure you give your taxi driver the exact address, it's easy to drive by and miss the place as we did initially. Being Brazil, the beers are served more chilled than in the UK, which is understandable and works fine with IPAs. However if you prefer your ale at something more like UK temperatures, just wait a few minutes before drinking, it will soon warm up! With the Olympic Games coming to Rio soon, I hope that people looking for a taste of real beer will come across this review. This is a relatively new bar and I think it deserves to succeed. I'm quite sure that if they ever open a second bar in more of a tourist location, it would be a huge success, appealing to UK real ale lovers and US craft beer fans alike, as well as tourists from other beer-appreciating countries. I'm sure the locals would also love an alternative to the standard lagers on offer in most other places too. Keep up the good work people of Yeasteria, and thank you! I hope to visit again whenever possible.

Churrasqueira is a traditional Steakhouse originally based in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais. We brought our expertise and passion for meat and other cuts to Ipanema and expect to enchant locals and tourists. Come visit Churrasqueira. Come enjoy the real braz
The food was great! Huge portions of meat which was enough to split between to two persons. And good and experimental drinks. However, check your bill and sum on the card machine carefully before paying. When we paid by credit card the waiter entered a sum ten times higher than the actual sum. This may of course just have been an honest mistake, but itâs a reminder of the importance of double-checking the sum before confirming the payment. Hello, Sturla. We were pleased that you enjoyed the food.About the bill, we are sorry for the mistake. There was certainly a typo.Thank you for alerting us, as we have passed the incident and demand more attention from employees. We hope to see you again in our restaurant!

We visited here on a Sunday afternoon. We had read the previous reviews and were not surprised when the taxi driver refused to drive us up the hill to this place. So we walked the 15 minute path, and we felt perfectly safe! Smiling at the locals as they smiled back, only enhanced our feeling of security. We were waited on by Davidâs wife and another family member, and although our conversation was in English on our side, and Portuguese on their side, we understood each other easily. Our first dish was the seafood salad. It was artistically served and tasted wonderful. Our next course was the pork ribs. The meat fell off the bone, and these had to be the leanest ribs ever. The meat was flavorful and savory. We ended with a seafood stew. Although not my favorite, my husband gobbled down the entire bowl. We had the opportunity to meet David and found him to be a really likable person. He entertained us with stories and photos of the many celebrities who have eaten there. After we ate, Davidâs wife took us upstairs to show us a special surprise. Then David called and tried to get us a taxi, but no one was working on a Sunday evening, so he personally took us down the mountain to a taxi station! How often would you find an owner who would go out of his way for foreign customers?By all means, visit this place for a wonderful experience. After all, if the U.S. Ambassador to Brazil, and Michael Bloomberg, and Hugh Laurie (Dr. House) all ate here and enjoyed themselves, wouldnât you?

I've already written about Botequim: great place, one of my favorites in Rio. Great food in servings that will make your hunger vanish for hours. I had my favorite - Osvaldo Aranha steak, and it was as good as ever. But this time there was a little problem. The restaurant was crowded (the place is popular for end-of-the year meetings), so I was assigned a table in the second floor, facing the manager's office. First problem: acoustics. For some reason, it seems that all the conversations downstairs get concentrated in this place, the noise was really disturbing. But worst of all: it seems that the service does no care about the people stranded in this corner. My dish took forever to arrive, and the second glass of orange juice never made it to the table. This contrasts with the friendly, efficient service I usually get.So my recommendation is: go to Botequim, have a great meal. But decline any seats upstairs, just in case.

Cazota Bar is a true argentinian style restaurante. It's not the pretentious type, but more of the palermo style, laid back type place.I would like to say that I have visited Cazota restaurant 3-4 times and this review comes from those experiences. It is directed to the owner, first to congratulate him and then to request his attention to the negative. A BIG positive: Really good food! + Here you will find one of the best pieces of meat in Rio. I have been to many restaurants in the city and this is on my top 5. + Sides are very good: Usually grilled vegetables (Which is a releve when you eat a big piece of meat) + Big portions. + Authentic Chimichurri. + Price is reasonable for the quality of food. + Owner is always present (You can see they work hard - respect!)Negative: For your attention - to improve. - Unprofessional, slow, absent service.. (Understaffed) Waiters seems to be running around making drinks at the bar and taking orders. They are usually not around when you need them or too slow to attend. Not very knowledgeable about the menu and lack in recommendations.- Missing items - on multiple occasions there were missing items from the menu. - Loud music - They play live music. But the equipment and volume don't match the criteria. Always too loud and bad sound. All taken into consideration, I would still recommend this restaurant for the food! *I would have given a 4 star, but that would not call for the require attention to this details. If you want to be in the top restaurants of the city, you will have to improve.Hello, ZWe are very satisfied with your review. It is easy to see that you made a big effort to help us with great suggestions and evaluations. Thank you! And we can also presume that you liked our place, after all you have returnerd 3-4 times. Thank you again.First of all, we've got so happy that you loved the food. This is our main business. Great!Yes, we do not have the most professional service! This is not our way. We preffer to offer a close and informal service, as if you were in our backyard enjoying a babacue day with our family, being served by them. In Brasil a babecue is all about party, and this is the legitime experience we are trying to make. Far from a fancy bistrô service.Yes, sometimes there are missing itens! Our whole food is fresh and changed weekly. Nothing goes to the freezer to be harnessed in the following week. So, at the end of the week some stuff might be missing. Sorry. This is our way to avoid waste and guarantee fresh grilled barbecue. Our food is simply based on fresh grilled stuff.Yes, in some cases the music can be loud! It depends on the band but... well, its a babecue party. Our clients often came from 5-9 to have dinner quietly. This is our recomendation. From 9-12 more people come for the jazz sessions. So, we try hard to make both happy. If you just want to have a smooth dinner is better to be early. So, we will work hard in your recomendations to make it better.Hope to someday have you back for another babecue experience. And maybe we can deserve that fourth star.Thank you so much. Our goal is not to be the top restaurant of the city. Too fancy for us.We would preffer to be the most legitim and tasty barbecue party. And your recomendations will help us so much.See you soon

Our bar and restaurant, ran by Belgian-Colombian partners, offers good quality slow-food and service. Located at a touristic viewpoint in the peaceful favela of Babilonia, it offers a unique view over the city and here you will experience a different gent
This restaurant is in the Favelas, and a little challenging to get to as there is no direct route where you could just drive there. The taxi takes you up to a point, and then you have to cut through other dwellings, and go up slopes and stairs, and although the people we stopped to ask for directions were very helpful, unless you understand Portuguese, or have a walking map it may give you a felling of being lost. I think you will eventually find your way there, like we did and it will be well worth the experience. I have attached a picture of a landmark, where you will need to get off and start walking. It is the Babilonia police station. The music was good, dancing was superb, the food was delicious, and the night time view of Copacabana was spectacular. Look out for the lit-up Christ the Redeemer statue in the distance. There is a video of the music and dancing. Search YT video # Wr8htm4rzzw if you need to brush up on your moves before you visit. Enjoy!

I´ve been to this same restaurant for about 5 times and each time their service just got worse and worse. I noticed that they are using more technology (tablet to order) and less staff which is good for the company (less trouble dealing with human resources matters). However, it took about an hour to realize that my order did not go through. Everything was very slow...very slow. In fact, they were more concerned about their theme (mexican dress, tequila guy, etc), but as a customer i don´t really give a damn about that, all i want is a good food and nice atmosphere. Even when we asked for the check, it took ages for the waiter to get back to us. I am really disappointed with their declining service. May be the owner should invest less on decoration (don´t get me wrong, they look fantastic, but enough already) and invest more on training their staff to be more efficient, quick and professional.Hello Adrianus2476!We are sorry that your experience at our house has not been as expected. The digital menu has come to add our team, we will check what caused the service failure. So sorry for the inconvenience.Sincerely, Guacamole Team.

Matheus (and the nice hostess with glasses and dark hair during the evening... unsure of her name..?) gave us great service. They made solid recommendations and all of the dishes we had were delicious (ribs, tlv drinks - suuuupper good, and the Argentinian beef). We went back again and Matheus was just as great the second time around. Very good food and attentive service, I'd highly recommend it. First time going we were staying close by, and the second time we drove 30 mins from Ipanema to go again. Thank you to Matheus and the rest of the staff for giving us a nice night out.

Andre was very helpful and was a unique very very good English speaker. It was a pleasant reprieve to not have to worry about speaking Portuguese. We had messed up our order and he made sure that we had it corrected without difficulty, and had a great dinner.¡Arribaaaaaa! Estamos ansiosos pelas próximas visitas, Joeo. Nuestra casa es su casa! FamÃlia Guacamole.
