We absolutely loved this restaurant which is typical of Brazilian buffet style restaurants (not to be compared to UK buffet style restaurants) and serves the renowned cuisine of the state of Minas Gerais which is beyond delicious. The menu consists of a salad buffet and hot food buffet which is kept hot over a traditional log fire under a Bain Marie style concept.The restaurant is basic/simple with no frills. Service is limited to drink orders and the clearing of tables, however is friendly and efficient.The cost is measured by the weight of the food you select (plate is weighed before returning to your table) and is extremely good value for money. No one in our party paid more than £6.00 for their food. The excellence of the food is reflected in the restaurants popularity hence it can be difficult to get a table at times. If visiting this town this restaurant is a must but note it is only open for lunch.

I love 'torresmo"... this remind me my infancy it's not easy to find it at those days. I was advised by this place and was really wondering how was that and by chance the hotel I got was just in front of this place. Went there anxious to get my infancy memory revived, but unfortunately not. I had better "torresmo" in other restaurantes, more crispiest and more flavored. But still caught my attention.

Torresmo de ponta is the most delicious type of torresmo you can try. It crispy outside and soft and meaty inside you can add drops of squeezed lemon juice on top if you like. They have other options such as pururuca wich is deep fried and very crunchy. Both perfect with a nice cold beer.This place is perfect for a happy hour and it gets packed around 6pm.Bar do Bigode is very tradicional and you should not miss out!

I was really disappointed with my meal here. The food was so slow in coming and when it came it was cold so I had to request it be re-heated up. There was no apology given and definitely no reduction in the bill. Most of my food experiences in Juiz de Fora were positive but not this one. The male toilet was quite a distance away and I got lost trying to find it. All in all not a good experience. Not the cheapest place in Juiz De Fora to get a steak but it is one of the best. I have visited several times and the quality of the meat and the cooking of has always been spot on. The portions are huge and I would really recommend the Argentinian Chorizo cut for the perfect combination of flavour and tenderness.My only real gripe is that on a Monday night they have live music and sometimes the volume can be a conversation killer unless you like shouting.

Before there even were food trucks Mexicana was open! For decades this decorated truck has been parking at the same spot and selling delicious âpastelâ. It opened as a family business and until today it is run by the founderâs sons. If Bourdain came do this town this is one of the places I would definitely take him. Coming to Juiz de Fora and not trying Mexicana is a sin.

The meat keeps coming non-stop at this well-appointed churrascaria. The service is attentive and there's salmon for those who prefer fish. There's an ample buffet with salads and other appetizers.
