I visited here this week on a brief trip to Michigan. We had a cabin in Northern Michigan for many years. My father starting coming here as a boy and I came here as a boy as well. This is a trip down memory lane for me.
The place never changes.

Seems most people stop for breakfast but don't forget about having a decent, reasonable and quick lunch here as well. Today it was homemade chicken noodle soup, potato with ham soup, BLT with fries and a cup of tea. $22 with tip.
Clean, small, three in the kitchen and three severs. Must be family owned and run but I did not ask. Could use a little updating but then the prices go up and the restaurant would lose its appeal. Eat here not at Subway, MacDonalds or other similar junk food places.

DuRussels' Food & Spirits is a local home town restaurant where you can enjoy a nice inviting atmosphere with great food and exceptional service. We offer bar and dining seating, as well as overhead TV's with music. Try our proudly sponsored Local Michigan brews, stouts, IPA's, and wines on tap and served cold. Our food style is American-traditional and we enjoy serving breakfast all day long.
Great place for a dinner. Full bar. Daily specials. Friendly staff.
This restaurant used to operate under a different name and different ownership.
Current ownership completely revamped the restaurant. It now has a broad menu; craft draft beer and a friendly vibe. Locals believe DuRussels is now one of the best in town.

The stadium pizza is a delightful thin crust pizza with awesome taste. The bread sticks are the best I have ever had. Even better with pepperoni and cheese.

Orders must be placed from a phone at the booth. We waited and waited and waited some more. No one answered to take our order. Went up to counter and they said order has to be placed from telephone at booth. Tried again without success. It was 7:00pm and the restaurant had diners, but nothing out of the ordinary. Maybe they were short staffed, I don't know. We walked out and went elsewhere.

My husband and I got the same thing, the Mexican Tacos with hot salsa. I found them to be pretty good, but my husband thought there was too much cilantro. What there wasn't enough of was serving size. You get 3 pretty small tacos and they are $7.50. When I say small, that is being generous and they were the "special". The serving to price ratio probably eliminates it as a stop for us next time.

We loved the decor at this Subway. They are located within a gas station, off to the side. They have a place to sit down with many booths. I loved the decor and theme. I felt like we were eating in a hunting lodge. Now, for the food. They gave us a decent amount of veggies. The bread was soft and the food tasted fresh. If you are on I-75 near Standish, be sure to stop in for a fresh sandwich. All of their hunting lodge decor is for sale. I could have spent an hour just browsing.

The sauce is what keeps us coming back. Actually better then little caesars but the building its ran in is pretty rundown, that concerns me.

Had lunch and breakfast at Arie while visiting the casino and RV park. They have a varied menu including salads, sandwiches, burgers, fries, build your own breakfast sandwiches. Drinks are complimentary and self-serve. The staff is very friendly and brings the food to your table if requested. This is a great place for good food while taking a break off the gaming floor or having breakfast if you stay at the RV park which is across the street. Will revisit when in the area.

Very welcoming and casual bar in Standish. As the friendly barmaid explained, "the locals to come in for hamburgers which are what we are known for". So, my wife and I had big and delicious cheeseburgers with fries washed down with a couple beers.
Definitely worth a stop if you are traveling M-13 (Huron) through Standish. It's about 10-15 minutes from the Saganing Eagles Casino. :-)
