Downtown Spokane's Premier Restaurant and Happy Hour. Wild Sage is consistently rated as one of the best restaurants in Spokane and is winner of the Full Service Restaurant of the Year award from the Washington Restaurant Association. We are the premier downtown bistro for casual and romantic dinners, or drinks, desserts and small plates after a show or event.
Our table of 8 had a wonderful experience. I can not believe I had not been to Wild Sage so I was excited for that evening. Our table was perfect for 4 couples to have a great meal. We ere greeted promptly, our server was fantastic and the food was excellent. I really enjoyed my scallops and shrimp. My husband said the pork tenderloin was cooked to perfection. Dessert was amazing as well! Thank you for a wonderful evening with good friends and great food!

I do not drive through Spokane without stopping here to eat, it is one of the highlights of my life. Not only is the food & the service absolutely superb, but the dining experience is once in a lifetime. These folks bring the old time splendor of early 1900's America to those of us who could never enjoy it otherwise. I believe this was the personal car of the president of the Northern Pacific Railway in the early 1900's & had been a diner in Seattle from something like 1931 to 1991. They have the history there, of course. The dining car is awesome & you do not want to miss it. If you have children that are old enough to appreciate it then be sure & bring them. The food & the service is every bit as good as the ambiance. They are re-known for their breakfasts. I recently had the Irish Benedict & it was to die for. I often go for the rock crab & lobster Benedict. This isn't just good food, it is a culinary experience. They also offer a Belgian waffle topped with a chicken breast & drizzled with caramel sauce (?) I'm serious! A favorite in the Deep South, but I just haven't had the courage to try it, yet I see many diners eating it. All this & just one block off I-90 in downtown Spokane, take the Maple Street exit. Enjoy!!

In July of 2010, Chef Anna Vogel and Operations Manager Bethe Bowman opened Italia Trattoria, a lively, regionally inspired Italian restaurant in historic Browne’s Addition just west of downtown Spokane. Chef Anna’s commitment to cooking seasonally with the finest local produce and artisan products available from Italy and the Pacific Northwest has differentiated Italia Trattoria from any other restaurant in Spokane. The menu has an eclectic mix of house made pastas, meats and fresh fish, salads and soups, and breakfast dishes on weekends. Our menu changes seasonally while offering some of our house favorite dishes year around. The menu is complimented by a well-received wine list with a primary focus on Italian producers and some local Northwest wines. We offer a full service bar with hand crafted martinis, barrel aged cocktails, fresh squeezed juices, and the best espresso in town. Whether you are in the mood for our grilled rack of wild boar with sweet potato gnocchi, a house made squid ink fettuccine with spicy wild shrimp, our charred octopus salad, the best meatballs in town, or our city wide famous zeppole doughnuts or tiramisu, come dine with us.
Our group of six family had a very good brunch experience in early November. I tried the donuts and eggs Benedict. Both very good. I also sampled my wife's Brioche French toast--very sweet and good. Service was very good and prices reasonable if slightly high. However, we were seated in a corner and the place was full. Noisey talk from everywhere made it difficult to hear other people in our party.

A Spokane landmark located in the heart of downtown, we feature a seasonal menu in an enchanting atmosphere. Enjoy organic meat, local produce and a separate entirely vegetarian menu prepared by skilled chefs, and a full bar specializing in fine wine and martinis. We also offer alleyway patio dining during summer months.
Stopped in and, without reservations, we were able to get an early seating. Superb beet salad which they split for us, excellent wine selection, scallops and steak for main meal. Great staff and food was something to come back for!

They just opened up two weeks ago. You can also find a write up about them at http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2010/jun/23/artisan-pizzeria-serves-up-goodness/ They have outstanding food.
Hubby and I went for dinner one Saturday night. We were promptly greeted, seated within a few minutes at a 4-top. While waiting we struck up a conversation with another couple and got some advice on dishes. Seeing they had no seat and nobody looked to be vacating theirs anytime soon, we invited them to join us.
This simply enhanced our experience. The service was excellent, the artisan pizza was fantastic, and the appetizer was really tasty. I'm sure that without the appetizer my husband could have eaten an entire pizza, for they are individually sized. Although I will say, our dinner companions also took their leftovers home.

Had dinner with business colleagues and everyone wanted to share entrees. Our exceptional wait person and cook willingly split multiple entrees onto 2 plates with all the accompaniments of the original dish. The halibut special and tri-tip were absolutely excellent. The sides were great and the plum pudding dessert was really exceptional. Our waitperson was absolutely top notch and she gave excellent explanations and recommendations from the menu. The ambiance is an old house with smaller rooms on multiple floors. I absolutely loved this place and highly recommend it as a connoisseur of fine dining.

Late lunch, after the crowd thinned, in order to eat by the window: the river high with Canadian honkers fluffing around on the snowy banks above the fast water, the most beautiful I'd ever seen it here, we sat in the window, happy. Many choices,...MoreFreckles99201, we really appreciate your feedback! We always strive to provide top quality service to every guest, and are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your experience here at Clinkerdagger!

We toured the historic 1913 Davenport Hotel, where we were greeted by an elderly doorman decked out in his historical costumed finery at the hotel entrance, who Ellen says has been there forever. I'll bet he had stories to tell. Louis Davenport opened his first restaurant in a tent in 1889, following Spokane’s great fire. Davenport’s successful tent restaurant experiment exploded into the construction of the Davenport Hotel in downtown Spokane. Architect Kirtland Cutter used rustic Boise sandstone accented with terra cotta ram’s heads and Florentine windows for this downtown, now iconic, statement. If you think the exterior of the hotel is impressive, a step inside is likely to wow you. From its elaborate and elegant skylit tea room on the first floor to the colorful Art Deco bar, the decorations and designs are intended to astound. There are incredibly decorated rooms such as the Hall of Doges, Elizabethan, Roosevelt Room, and even a Marie Antoinette Room where a 1924 photo on the wall showed the Mel Butler Orchestra performing in Louis the XVI costume. Louis was apparently a showman drawing crowds and curiosity in 1915 when he had an Automobile Show inside the hotel. An old photo shows a circa 1915 Motel T Ford being winched up a pair of ramps from the main floor to the second floor inside the hotel. Service and attention to detail remain the hallmarks of Davenport’s career.

Having read a LOT of great reviews for this place I was excited to make a reservation to celebrate a birthday. The gentleman who appeared to be a manager on duty was at the host station when we walked in, looked at us, never cracked a smile, just stared until I said 'hi' and that we had a reservation. He mumbled something to the hostess and she took us to our seat. The server was pleasant, but nothing as good as Outback expects from their servers. Supposedly this is a classier place than Outback. The manager from earlier came by doing his obligatory "how was everything", and even then it was so glaringly disingenuous! He didn't even make eye contact, he was busy looking at the corner and then walked off uninterested in if we even responded. Probably the worst issue I had here was that I believe they were passing off a cheaper cut of meat as filet mignon. I have never had filet mignon where I questioned if that's what it really was. This texture and flavor was that of a properly seasoned and cooked sirloin. Very disappointing experience. Outback would have been a much better choice as well as more reasonably priced.
