Five Loaves is a charming little restaurant with perhaps only 20 tables. Décor is simple with low lighting, and with paintings by local artists on the dining room walls. Desserts are available for takeout in the reception area. The staff is very friendly and efficient. And, there are lots of little touches that give this place a little something extra - Nice China tea cups; interesting service plates; a nice selection of teas and coffees; garnish that is interesting. Oh, and you can bring your own wine to have with dinner - no liquor license here.
The menu changes often, and the chef is very talented. Offerings include small plates, entrees, and desserts. On the night of my last visit, selections were varied and represented a half dozen countries. There were Thai dumplings, Italian Wedding Soup, Black Skillet Bistro Steak, Chimmichuri Chicken, Seared Tuna Wontons, Pork Cutlets, Baked Sole, and too many more to mention. The variety makes one want to try everything.
I started with Panzanella salad, a marvelous south Italian salad with diced bread, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, white beans, and greens tossed in a red wine garlic vinaigrette - a hearty and absolutely delightful choice. It was a cold night, and I decided on meatloaf wrapped in bacon with herbed mushroom gravy for my main course; it was served with mashed potatoes with bacon and garlic. I wasn't disappointed. The dish was savory, satisfying, and smelled marvelous. I saved room for dessert - a splendid lemon ricotta cake with berries and cream. Lovely.
Restaurant-goers aren't accustomed to finding this kind of quality in a rural New England town. The place is really good - I'll be back - Enjoy!

My wife and I had DQ often as children and young adults traveling, but we don't have DQ near us at home! So we went in for ice cream.
This DQ is super clean, the young ladies behind the counter were friendly, energetic and accommodating! The funnel cake with ice cream and hot fudge topping, dipped cones, etc. brought back lots a good memories of our younger days - and made a new memory with our youngest!
Good place for a quick ice cream break or an inexpensive lunch!

They are pretty fast in the drive thru even when there's a long line of cars. Their breakfast sandwiches are always made with fresh eggs, not those microwaved egg somethings.
Good selection of bagels, and pastries.
Lots of coffee flavors.
Less expensive than some other similar places.

The service is good, the drive through is very odd and seems to cross into driving lanes in the parking lot depending on what time you go. the service is excellent though

I had coupons for 99 cent Pepper Jack Supreme bagels that were supposed to be good through October 31st. I went to this location on the morning of October 31st and was told they were not making these anymore and hadn't had these for a while. Being flippant about the matter, the girl offered me another of their new "gourmet" supreme bagels, spinach and artichoke, but at FULL PRICE. It's too bad some franchisees do not honor these promotional coupons as they should---definitely bad for business. And the counter help has the audacity to put out tip mugs for this type of service.

I've been by the Black & White several times but never had a chance to swing in. In the area recently with family (and with time) and decided to swing in for a late lunch. The restaurant was packed....mobbed! Very busy and it is very loud inside. But, we made the most of it. The menus are huge...SO many choices. Burgers, sandwiches, fried foods, pizzas, subs, entrees....so much to choose from. We tried several items including a fried seafood entree, a pizza, sub and a couple sandwiches.
Our server was prompt. Sadly, that was the only promptness we saw. Perhaps it was because they were busy - although the place had emptied out by the time we were served - but our lunches took 45 minutes to be delivered. Pizza and fried seafood were better than average. Sandwiches not the best - Turkey reuben was not at all warm, juicy with sauce and melted cheese as one would expect but, rather, cold and blah. Only a bunch of cold Turkey between two cold, toasted pieces of bread. Sub was okay - but, nothing special and you had to purchase a side as it didn't come with anything. All in all, glad we experienced Black & White but not sure we'd return unless it was for the bar or pizza.

Arrived hungry for breakfast after a camping trip and took the recommendation from customers as they were leaving to order the pumpkin pancakes.
Our entire table ordered the pumpkin pancakes and they did not disappoint. They were light with a perfect amount of icing and they were delicious. You don't need the maple syrup.
The coffee and hot cocoa were excellent . The diner was busy but the wait staff was very attentive and the manager visited our table to see if we liked our meal.
We enjoyed reading about diners from the books they had on display. We will definitely come back .

Food was good .had French toast with strawberries and cream cheese. Enough strawberries for three dishes and they were fresh.my companions had ome lets and liked them. I tried the hash but think it had sage that I wasn't really liking. Service was not bad. Would like to see food come out together but would come again anyway.

I've been to the Sunday Brunch twice and both times I found the food delicious! There was a nice selection of breakfast and dinner items and desserts. It also includes Bloody Mary's for no extra charge. The atmosphere was very nice and the staff was very pleasant. I look forward to another visit!
