Ilaeira Mountain Resort is amphitheatrically built with an air of luxury on a Laconian slope of Mount Taygetus of unparalleled natural beauty. With Ilaeira as your base, Laconia is a unique region of Greece to explore as it offers both seaside fun and mountainous adventures. Ilaeira is also only a 10 min. drive from Magganiaris spring, the starting point of the E4 path that leads to Profitis Ilias summit, as well as other mountain trails. The historical center of Sparta and Mystras are only 15km away. The hotel consists of 3 villas, 8 private residences and 4 suites, all with panoramic view and sophisticated luxury. Each room presents a unique aesthetic concept and reflects the personal taste of the owners. Every detail of the resort has been designed with care and our ambition is to make every one of our guests experience true “filoxenia” in Sparti –i.e. the doting warmth of hospitality in a fairytale-like oasis.
We spent a weekend at the resort as we wanted to hike up to Profiti Ilias. The resort was comfortable and charming and Olga was a fabulous hostess as were the other staff. All the staff were very polite and eager to accommodate our every need. The morning we would do our hike up the mountain meant we would miss breakfast but they made us a basket with what we wanted for breakfast. We had 4 rooms which were all well maintained, comfortable, clean and had a romantic feel to them. We also ate at the restaurant on site and whatever we had was delicious. The resort is situated in a beautiful location on the side of a mountain with a fantastic view from any angle or room. Measures regarding COVID-19 were carried out very carefully. We absolutely enjoyed our stay.. All in all a great stay and highly recommended.

Great Central location in Sparta. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. Room was nice and clean. The the size was small, but what you expect in Europe. The breakfast was wonderful, and very friendly servers. Convenient to shops, restaurants, market, and the Ruins. We would definitely stay there again.

The room was clean and okay. If you are a bar outgoing person, then its fine because theres a bar across the street and it gets loud at night. The city wasnt that pretty though, unless this is for Mystras, i wouldnt really come here

Positives: room size was good, nice balcony with a good view of sparta/mountains, location was perfect (very close to the center square and a great night-life), the staff at the hotel was fantastic. The room came with both a desk and table and were of decent quality. There was also a nice little table you could eat on at the balcony. I really liked the black out curtains and double-glass doors that lead to the balcony. The room was both quiet and dark (if you want it to be) which is very unusual for Greece. A lot of hotels push you to try their food/restaurant and such. This hotel didn't. That being said I highly recommend the food at the restaurant (which surrounds the lobby area). The food was amazing. High quality and portion size was good. The drinks were also made to perfection. Food/drink was probably the best part of the hotel. I got a beautiful fruit platter for 2-3 Euro. With all the positives above, I unfortunately had to give the hotel a rating of 2 out of 5. Negatives: The beds were just old. The mattresses and pillows were uncomfortable. Unfortunately, when it comes to hotels. The main purpose is to have a place to sleep. So the most important aspect of the hotel, the bed, was far below average for Greece. All the fixtures were outdated: The lighting for example. There was odd furniture throughout the hallways that should just be thrown away. The shower, though it didn't leak water all over the floor, was small and had a very ugly curtain that was...retro and odd. The parking situation was horrible in all of Sparta. Luckily the hotel staff moved some signs in front of hotel so I could park. Staff was great, situation was not. By far the worst aspect of the hotel was the allergy situation. The hotel hallways smelled like an ashtray. The bedding including the sheets/pillow cases and blankets were over-chemical treated. It was like being around someone with a bad odor and they try to make up for it by putting on far too much perfume. I woke up every morning with difficulty breathing. The combination of chemical fumes and nicotine (or whatever the other smells were) made staying at this hotel impossible for me. This is a shame. If the hotel could fix their beds and some fixtures and do something about the allergy issues, then it would have probably been one of the best stays of my trip. I do recommend stopping by the restaurant at some point even if you don't want to sleep there.

This was okay place to stay for one night. Take your shower the night before (I always take it the night before!!... For various reasons that all should be doing...) or you may have a surprise the next morning... No water!! Proximity to the town hall square of Sparta where there are great places to eat and shop! WiFi is okay.

Plethon is a wonderfully quiet, agro-tourist retreat, with a twist of urban architecture. It comprises of four elegant independent adjacent houses and en suite- bedrooms, each 64 sq, a lovely garden, and a relaxed dining area. There is also a second building, with a common lounging area for all guests where a la carte meals and breakfasts are served should they wish. Four independent houses but with similar architectural features are tastefully decorated with warm colours, stylish paintings and recycled furniture.
The city it self is not necessarily a great place to visit but this place is a hidden gem. Quite end nice with a good host. Great place to stay before you start the trip to Kalamata via the old road to catch the great scenery.

We originally chose To Selas just as a stopover for one night, but once we arrived we regretted that we could only stayed one night. The house was large and well arranged, everything we needed with a wonderful shower everything was clean. The views (multiple views!) were breathtaking! Costa was responsive, gave us lots of information, told us stories of the nearby areas, and suggested a wonderful place for a late night dinner (the beer and spinach pie was delicious). I highly suggest choosing To Selas!

While I knew the hotel was less than budget, I tried anyway to book this one...NIGHTMARE! Forget the position (this is the only plus). The hotel is old, damaged, dirty and dark. Breakfast was awful (and very poor). But the real problem is linked to the core offer of the hotel: sleeping. Well, some very old tube was creating some huge noise. Even with earphones (off or on) was it impossible to get asleep. The owner didn't seem to care too much to this problem, since history was repeating every night! AVOID THIS ONE!
