Recommend by the concierge at Marques de Riscal hotel, we booked a dinner reservation at this charming Asador. An asador is a Spanish grill house, or steak house but not limited to beef. Lovely charming interior with attention to detail and service, we were explained the recommendations and answered every questions we had with the menu item. The first item arrived was the consommé soup and what a delight it was; intrigue flavor profile, delicate tastes hitting every taste buds. From that point, we know we are in for a treat and it turned out to be one of the best meat we have ever had in Spain.

This restaurant is also part of a pension. It is in the village of San Asensio, La Rioja. It serves traditional Riojan food.
We stayed at Casa Marisa for 4 nights . The room was modern and comfortable and very quiet. Marisa was a very friendly and helpful hostess, finding us maps and information about La Rioja in English and suggesting places we should visit. She organised a visit to Bodega Lecea, and led us there in her car when we asked for directions. Breakfasts were cooked to order from fresh local produce. We ate in the restaurant each evening, choosing from the Menu del Dia which included delicious local specialties and wine. San Asensio is well situated to explore the Bodegas and museums of La Rioja.

We specifically went here on the recommendation of the young lady at the hotel Duques and were disappointed. We waited until after 8 so we could order something other than the Pilgrims Menu. The food was horrible, served with about 10 cold remnants of someone else's French fries. The salads were ok. The service was ambivalent at best and when we received the bill, the fellow made a point of making sure he appeared to look it over to verify it was correct......except we were overcharged for one extra dinner and extra wine. It was partially corrected and it wasn't worth the extra effort of arguing. Beautiful setting but don't bother with this one. They don't care about the food and they blatantly will rip off someone when they feel they can.

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel. The kitchen opened at 8pm although there was a small selection of tapas available before this. The tapas selection from the menu was just fabulous - absolutely worth the wait. Thank you so much!

We were'nt very sure to come in but thank's we did it because the girl who treated us was superb. She recommended us some dishes, wine, and always with a smile. We went twice and we really enjoyed it. Prices were very good for what you get.

A quaint restaurant with a good value but fairly standard menu. The lamb cutlets had been recommended but they were very fatty and did not come with vegetables. However, for the price of ⬠11 it was very good value with excellent service.j

A Laguardia local recommended Luis Alegre to us. We tried to get in on the Saturday but it was totally booked so went on the Sunday and arrived early. Fabulous service as we were the first to arrive. We had the 60E "Portiles menu", which seems expensive until you realise it comes with two bottles of amazing wine. It was a meal of anticipation as we went from starters through a really interesting chorizo-potato mousse type dish followed by a not-too salty and beautifully presented bacalao salad. The foie gras was exquisite served with a really interesting rosemary and apple puree. Next came the boletus soup which was poured over croutons at our table. I love mushroom soup and this was one of the best. The hake was served with a nutty sauce which lent it a superb texture, followed by a very tender steak. Pretty much full at this stage we both had the roasted salted pineapple with cardamon ice-cream to end. Delicious. What a find. One of the best meals we've had in Spain. Would definitely recommend booking this restaurant and taking a 10 minute walk down the hill from Laguardia, although the restaurant does have parking.
