Had dinner with a friend here and was stunned by how delicious the peppers were. Service was very good with friendly staff and the chef coming into the dining area to greet guests. The chuleton was good and perfectly cooked. The cheesecake desert was fantastic. Highly recommended when you want a night away from the pincho bars.

Nice quiet place to escape, if You get tied with the noisy tapas atmosphere just outside the restaurant. Old fashioned interior with some style. A couple of waiters spoke english.I ordered a bottle of 2014 El Puntido from Rioja, that was ok given the mediocre vintage. The waiter unfortunately broke the cork as she tried to uncork the wine, but no harm done.Starter was mushroom anf foie in filo pastry. The idea was good but was not well executed. Way to much film pastry...Main was steak that was ok even though it was a bit uneven cooked. Some parts were a bit overcooked, but most part were medium rare, as instructed.Desert was ok with a not very interesting glass of muscatel.

The casually chic "1860 Tradición" restaurant offers the opportunity to experience traditional Spanish cuisine with an exciting modern twist. Chef Francis Paniego's creative breakfast, lunch and dinner menus are based on fine local produce and the region'
Anyone that follows my comments knows I am always measured and fair in my reviews. However this one is hard to make constructive. The architecture and grounds are worth a visit however on returning to celebrate a special birthday dinner, we were exceptionally disappointed. We asked earlier in the day for reception to recommend the best (of the 2) restaurants for an informal atmosphere and varied choice of food and were booked into 1860. Please don't bother! The staff were polite but the food was far from 5*, presentation of food was very basic (we'd had better pinchos), there was no vegetarian option (on asking, the restaurant manager said maybe fish!), overall service was disjointed and food mediocre. No atmosphere what so every in this restaurant, in fact it was more like a canteen feel! we asked for the lighting to be turned down as it was so bright. A large family with children trashed their table, and although fun whilst their birthday and cake slamming was brief, on leaving the remaining 4 couples had to sit and look at the mess whilst the waiters stood and looked at us. Basics .. clear the table. Be aware of other diners. An array of coat hangers and badly placed coat stands greeted your entrance to the restaurant toilet, the bar area toilets on the ground floor were worse still, so messy and dirty I discretely advised the staff of this. Reception is uninviting, bright & guest were queuing to check-in or raise a query for over 10 mins. Really ... for a 5* hotel. Please go take a look at the superb Viura Hotel a 10 mins drive away, great ambience, excellent customer service and a lesson in good taste and interior designer. Marquet de Riscal you let us down very badly .... the only time on our fabulous wine tasting tour of Rioja. Very disappointing after wanting to visit for so long.

First of all it took ages to get us a table even though it was not busy. Then we started coughing with the smell of burning oil. The food was poor. Very greasy and not fresh. Would not recommend.

At the Michelin star and Repsol sun-awarded restaurant Marques de Riscal, exquisite dishes created by the prestigious Chef Francis Paniego can be tasted accompanied by some of the estateâs finest vintages. Its culinary excellence and superb levels of serv
Average and mediocre food. The menu consisted of an immitation of 14 "ideas" pioneered by another restaurant (i.e. Echaurren). From the introduction the molecular black olives were very good as both concept and taste. In terms of appetizers ,"fresh grass" was totally disregardful and could be an issue for a divorce with your wife. From the first part red prawn carpaccio was decent. On the other hand sweetned pork ravioli was an equal to a junk food quality. From the second part, roasted squab was good. For the above mediocre menu we paid â¬300 (two people) including a decent bottle of marques de riscal. Absolutely not worthy the michelin star awarded to the restaurant.

Mouthwatering cuisine from local fresh produce . The restaurant is located in the exclusive setting of the 15th century wine cellars of the palace of the Duke of Najera. Food, Wine and History create a truly unique experience to enjoy any day of the week.
We liked the ambience of the restaurant a lot due to the unique mixture of old, but renovated building structure and the modern furniture style. And this was topped by the very friendly, professional and customer orientated waitress. One of us had started with an excellent Salat with goat cheese, and an almost rare cooked T-bone steak. The meat was nonetheless tender full of a wonderful taste. The other one had a regular mixed salad not on the menu with pork. Those was delicious. That altogether with the dessert and the Crianza local Rioja wine emade it a unique experience. Really lovely chatting with you guys. I'm really glad you had a great time and I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip. Say hi to your brother for me. All the best

All what is written about the restaurant is true.Food and stuff marvellous.

Recommend by the concierge at Marques de Riscal hotel, we booked a dinner reservation at this charming Asador. An asador is a Spanish grill house, or steak house but not limited to beef. Lovely charming interior with attention to detail and service, we were explained the recommendations and answered every questions we had with the menu item. The first item arrived was the consommé soup and what a delight it was; intrigue flavor profile, delicate tastes hitting every taste buds. From that point, we know we are in for a treat and it turned out to be one of the best meat we have ever had in Spain.
