Beach bar & restaurant at a small beach in Zamardi open from June - end of August. Only outdoor places.Small dishes like pancakes, lángos, hamburger, fish & a very good turós csusza (hungardian pasta with sour cream, lard...)!
We found this restaurant accidentally on a hot summer afternoon when other restaurants were full of hungry people. We had enough of the Lake Balaton' s typical streetfood and wanted to eat something different. So there we went with our two teenager daughters. The restaurant had nothing special in appearance but the food was very good. We had chicken salads with cheese and it was fresh, spicy and exciting. The pastas were well cooked with really nice toppings and the dessert was something brilliant ( lava cake ), real rarity around Balaton. The only issue was the slowish service but we were there at the buisiest Sunday afternoon and the staff did their best.

Hungarisn food is heavy and does not include much fish. Mókus Büfé also reffered to as Halas Karcsi has a good selection of local and frozen fish at reasonable prices and some decent IPA beers to wash it off . There is fish soup (halászlé in Hungarian), deep-fried and grilled fish. The menu also includes a chicken, a pork and a beef option. Basic but cosy semi- outdoor place. Harcsa was the best we tasted, the cod ( hekk) is a bit too dry.

We were here for late dinner in May 2018, so the main season was just at the beginning. Not many people in any of the restaurants in Tihany. We have ordered two chicken salads, glass of wine and wheat beer called Edelweis. We get small pizza thingies aside the salads. They were really good, so we wanted to order another portion of them. Waitress said it is not possible. Well, ok, no problem.. though I would think you can be little creative if guest asks for something you don´t have on the menu... Another problem was when we ordered another pair of drinks. Waitress brought us normal Soproni beer in Edelweiss glass. My friend said it is not Edelweiss, waitress said "Oh my god" and rolled her eyes. OK, sorry for being so rude to be a guest who knows the difference between beer and beer :/ She brought the right beer and since that moment no one came to our table to ask if we want to order anything else. Only when I wanted to pay, another waitress came.It was really bad experience. I know the season is just beginning, you do not have many guests, which may made you a bit nervous, but ... hey, your guests are bringing your salary in their wallet.

We spent one night at Hintalo, which is an extremely friendly family business, where we decided to come back again already after the strarter..All courses were very tasty!Highly recommended for tourists, but locals will be also amazed by the quality of the food.

Great place to escape the sub par holiday tourist cafeteria style place near the lake. We felt like a wholesome meal and were pleasantly surprised to get great tasting selection of local cuisine. We had house special, and fish dishes. Recommend the beef goulash. Great coffee and friendly fast service!

When arriving, they took us to their Hungarian Food Museum, where we got to know(and tasted!) some local Hungarian products. The manager and waiter were very passionate in explaining the dishes and wines, and their connection to local families and businesses. The food was amazing and the prices were not expensive.
