The seat of Giurgiu County, it lies in the historical region of Muntenia. It is situated amid mud-flats and marshes on the left bank of the Danube facing the Bulgarian city of Ruse on the opposite bank. Three small islands face the city, and a larger one shelters its port, Smarda. The rich grain-growing land to the north is traversed by a railway to Bucharest, the first line opened in Romania, which was built in 1869 and afterwards extended to Smarda. Giurgiu exports timber, grain, salt and petroleum, and imports coal, iron, and textiles.

Tangra Beer House is a Bulgarian Restaurant, offering variety of local and imported craft beers, salads, grilled meat, fish and appetizers. Located in the heart of Ruse, the restaurant welcomes its guests with a cosy atmosphere indoors and a beautiful sum
I am a regular visitor to Rousse and I always spend an evening at Tangra during my stays in the city. It's a great place to start the night having a bite of some delicious cuisine offering and a sip of beer from their impressive list of craft brands. Their summer garden is really nice and when a championship is going on you can watch a game of football or volleyball, or a boxer round. In winter, the house inside is bright and cozy shunning bad weather and ill moods and leaving them outside. I like the place and would definitely recommend it to both visitors and local people.

Service was fine and the English menu is well translated. However, they didn't have several of the things we tried to order. The meals we did receive were disappointing. Lamb was dry and very overcooked. Pork steak was decent, but lacking flavor. I never salt my food in restaurants but I found myself liberally applying salt and lemon to it. Fries were cold and soggy. "grilled vegetables" were a (good) pepper and a tomato wedge. For one of the more expensive meals I've had after a week in Bulgaria, it was certainly the most disappointing.
