Came on the strength of the trip advisor reviews, sadly the food was pretty average (about 4 small prawns in a curry and not a great flavour - we had better food in a cafe on a side street for half the price although not as nice a location), prices were higher than average but to be expected with the beach front location. Staff were great, and the restaurant clean.Wouldnât recommend on the basis of the food not being that good.

We went here for a light snack at lunch time. Along with a couple of beers we ate devilled prawns. We were given the choice of medium or very spicy - we chose medium, but should have gone for very spicy. The dish was good value and very tasty, although we might have preferred to pay a little more for more or larger prawns. We sat by a window and enjoyed the view over the sea.

Stayed in Hikkaduwa for 7 nights and had dinner at Aroma 3 times!Amazing food and great value. The Chef Aramadusa is very passionate about cooking and has impressive experience around the world. Professional and accommodating staff. We asked to make a booking to sit on the balcony, Aramadusa let us choose which table we would prefer. Set Menu is amazing!

Walking down the main road towards our hotel at lunchtime Ranjith just started talking to us outside his cafe. He told us that we could eat at a table overlooking the beach . We looked at the menu which is very reasonably priced and decided on a takeaway to eat on our balcony.We ordered a Chicken roti, a cheese, onion and tomato roti along with a portion of Dhal. The rotiâs were large compared to others weâve had and taste wise spot on, the dhal was tasty and hot.Well recommended.

Our restaurant of choice was closed so with some trepedation we followed our tuk tuk drivers recommendation and are so glad we did. This is a no frills, authentic Sri Lankan curry house. It may not be as swanky as our regular Friday night Balti house in Birmingham but the food, whisper is not, is better. At the prices charged you can try a little of everything, all of it was fresh, perfectly cooked and subtlety spiced. Cold beer suits my husband but when I indicated a preference for white wine( not evident on the menu) after a slight delay a chilled bottle of sauvignon appeared as if by magic. The restaurant was full - locals and backpackers. A tropical rainstorm complete with thunder and sheet lightening added to the enjoyment of the evening even if the tuk tuk ride back to our 5 star hotel was a little on the damp side.This is a terrific place to eat, a very welcome contrast to the European, over priced menu offerings at our local resort hotel, and an evening there felt like a real adventure.

We went here for lunch after am exhausting dive and it was perfect! We both had some rotis with avocado/guacamole and tomatoes and they were sooooo delicious! We also had some pineapple lassis which were so, soo tasty! Best after-dive refueling ever!

We picked this place because they open early for breakfast and we're early risers. It looks a bit rough around the edges but we thought we'd give it a go. Thank goodness we did because the food was awesome and as I've never had curry for breakfast before so it was a lovely surprise. The potato curry, dahl curry and string hoppers were delicious and had to be eaten with fingers as no cutlery was offered. The owner was great and very attentive.We'll definitely eat here again as soon as we can

We visited one evening during our time in Hikkaduwa based on the TripAdvisor ratings. There was no menu we were just offered vegetarian curry & the restaurant was very cramped. The meal was tasty but not spectacular. We were offered lime tea and accepted but we assumed this was part of the meal, especially as no menu was provided. This is not the case and we were charged. The present rating we feel appears to be generous.

This restaurant is completely out the way but an absolute hidden gem. We had the sri lankan curry and it is by far the best curry I have ever had. Well worth a tuk tuk ride out to experience.
