We are a family run Free house in the lovely village of Swanmore. Our cosy pub has a great beer garden and open fire. We welcome dogs in our bar - where you can eat and drink - the restaurant is for humans only! All our food is freshly prepared from scrat
Were directed to this pub from another as they serve food all day and the kitchen was closed at the other one. Opted for their reasonably priced lunch menu and had a delicious main course followed by one of the best 'Eton Messes' i have tasted.

Cute pub with nice atmosphere with lit fireplaces etc to make it cosy. Main hostess was abit abrupt when we checked if we could use Tesco clubcard vouchers before we got seated. Table was very wobbly, we bodged it with napkins to make it better. Waiter must of been new or this just wasnt a good career choice for him as he was not good at all. Forgot our jug of water 4 times, we watched him give the table next to us dessert menus and asked what they wanted when they werent even half way through their mains...was awkward to watch. Also took half hour to pay our bill, we got up and paid at the bar in the end as we got fed up of being ignored. Menu was pretty varied, i had the chicken kiev basket and chocolate fudge cake for dessert and both were fab. Everyone enjoyed their food, just service that let it down.

I will start by saying the Bar and waitress staff are very good.I was here for food, unfortunately it's obvious the pies are bought in and must be microwaved, as the first pie crust was concrete.I declined an offer of a sharper knife from an observing cook (which isn't normal unless he expected a reaction). The second pie was microwaved less but not much meat in a gravy. It's all about people/staff and the kitchen may have problems.(If only somewhere supplied pies like those from Sweeny & Todds Reading)I'm sorry we've not been able to meet your expectations on this occasions, but please do give us a try again as this is not our usual standard We would like an opportunity to make this up to you. If you are willing, please reach out to us at 01489 784171 so we can work towards a resolution.

I chose Sausage and Mash @£11.95. Expensive for this dish, it was just 3 sausages on a small bed of mash potato and some gravy. Sadly no onions or vegetables The mash was tasteless and lumpy and the sausages were tasteless. I was told they were award winning Owtons sausages. Very very disappointing My husband had the meat and potato pie on special at £6.00when delivered it looked lovely, he really enjoyed it and the vegetables were plentiful and well cooked.

I visited Miss Ellieâs Café for the first time recently & was impressed by the friendly atmosphere and warm welcome. The menu had enough choices to give many appealing options but not so many that it could not all be freshly cooked.I had sausages, mash & vegetables. When it arrived the presentation was impressive, the quantity rather generous, to say the least and the food excellent. The sausages were succulent, meaty and tasty - unlike some where the cereal content makes it questionable whether they should be served with mustard or marmalade.I was still in the area the next day so dined there again. I was recognised & warmly welcomed back. Some of my fellow diners had been there the previous day, & later arrivals were greeted by name so were obviously regulars - and regulars are always a good sign.I had slow roast lamb shank with mint sauce, gravy, duchesse potatoes & vegetables. The presentation, quantity and quality were as before. The gravy & mint sauce mix was so tasty that I asked for a spoon to scoop up as much as I could. A spoon was provided along with a totally unexpected but welcome offer of some bread & butter to mop up the mix.The jam roly-poly with custard for pudding was to the same excellent standard. The price charged for the quality, presentation & quantity represents the most impressive value I have encountered for years.I have paid a great deal more for smaller helpings of inferior food elsewhere and if in the area again will certainly return to Miss Ellieâs.Wow thank you for a fanatastic review, we are so pleased you enjoyed your meals with us, we have an ever changing menu so hope to see you again when you are next in the area.

Greens restaurant & bar is situated on the corner of the historic Wickham square. It is very easy to find and to park. The outside of the property looks traditional, well cared for and inviting. The inside is light & airy with a contemporary feel. Restful
First visit here. Lovely feel to the place and welcoming staff. Had a light lunch from the lunch menu - of which there were two. But the best feature this time of year is definitely the hidden garden. A lovely quiet spot out the back with tables dotted about giving customers privacy. Food was fab too! Will definitely return on further visits to the area.
