Things to do in Selfoss
Only one hour drive from ReykjavÃk, the restaurant at Fosshotel Hekla is ideal for travelers and locals alike. How about a dinner under the Northern lights? When the night is dark and the sky is clear-the area is ideal for spotting the spectacular lights
Our small (13) group stayed at Fosshotel Hekla and ate two dinner and breakfast here. The buffet style meals were very extensive for the room space and very good. Normally, I don't return for multiple trips for extras or additions at buffets, but here I did. Enjoy.

Silfra Restaurant is the in house restaurant at the Ion Adventure hotel in Nesjavellir. The restaurant embodies the local flavours and spirit of Iceland, offering seasonal and contemporary dishes with an emphasis on sustainable and farm-fresh ingredients
The food was very good. The Shellfish soup was extremely tasty followed by the Duck breast confit. The service was excellent. They were all very pleasant ant attentive. As a bonus while dining you get some great views of the area.

There are not many places in Iceland where you get a beautifully laid out table even with white table clothes for LUNCH! We had a lovely lunch at the Riverside Restaurant last week, food was delicious, service was 100% attentive and friendly. Could not have wished for more. Iceland overall is pricy, but here service and price were well acceptable. Both the langoustine soup and vegetarian dish were great! Congratulations and Thank you!

Grimsborgir Restaurant is situated directly at the famous Golden Circle tourist route in South Iceland. On our à la carte menu our guests will find traditional Icelandic dishes and international gourmet food, everything is freshly prepared from local prod
The restaurant is part of the Hotel Grimsborgir and also the location for a very good breakfast buffet. We had dinner and breakfast. Dinner is selected from a menu with a good selection of dishes including vegetarian. Local lamb, excellent local fish options and a selection of beef. A good selection of international wines and champagne but they come at âIcelandic pricesâ. Desert is also available including s cheese option. Staff is attentive and friendly. Since the nearest restaurant is quite a distance given the location of the hotel, many guests are having dinner in the restaurant. I would recommend to make a reservation for a table.

Thrastalundur is a modern restaurant with a well-thought-out concept. Itâs located a short drive north of the town Selfoss and a 40-minute drive from ReykjavÃk. Itâs a perfect place to stop if you are travelling the Golden Circle. Thrastalundur restaurant
Decided to treat the wife to a nice breakfast on a long Easter weekend, their website says they open at 11 and offer a breakfast dish with eggs bacon and others that sounded great so we decided to make the 20 minute drive, arrived at 11:10 and the sign said it was closed, saw someone working inside so decided to stop in front of the door and walk up and see if it was open, door stayed closed so returned to the car, still saw someone working inside so I was surprised but we decided to leave, looked back when leaving the parking lot and saw the sign had changed to open so we turned back walked up as still the door did not open so I knocked and we saw the same person inside, after a while waiting she finally came and turned on the door so it would open. We were directed to some seats and handed some menus, we had read them online and wanted the breakfast dish so it was an easy decision, staff replied it was only available on the weekends, I replied that this was a weekend as it was a holiday though it was a Thursday as it was a part of Easter, the waitress said she would ask the chef and came back saying that it was not possible, only on Saturdays and Sundays but this was not mentioned on their website or the menus at the location either. After all this we decided to leave and the waitress could not care less, will never return.

We chose this restaurant after reading many good reviews, so perhaps our expectations were too high.It is very nice inside, quite quirky with a warm and cosy feel. The staff were a mixed experience; the first man we spoke to seemed friendly, but our waitress seemed rather distant and uninterested. The main disappointment really though was the food; there was nothing bad about it as such, but it wasn't particularly good, just rather average. All in all it was an expensive meal that didn't live up to expectations.
