The Golden Palace had a lovely atmosphere, nicely decorated and with very friendly staff. We brought our own wine and just paid a small surcharge. We ordered the beef black pepper and black bean, the seafood combination with garlic and ginger sauce as well as boiled rice. There was lots of seafood in the combination including king prawns, scallops, mussels and squid. The sauce was very tasty and there were lots of crisp vegetables as well. The beef was sizzling as it came out and was so very tasty.Great food really close to where we were staying at a nearby motel.

This was a new experience for us, we had never been to a Japanese Restaurant before. We were served very promptly with very small dishes!! However this was just as well because the dishes that followed were huge and what a variety. The food was really tasty and unique.

Love their food as its always very tasteful and the takeaway's are always big portions. And the best is that the meat in the dishes is TENDER unlike a lot of other's we have tried around the South Island. We visit quite often and recommend to any visitors that want a lovely Chinese meal to go to this restaurant.

Voucher from the entertainment book so thought we would try it out. Very pleasant service, food was quick + piping hot. The restaurant has been modernized significantly & looks way better. Was quiet expensive at $25+ per main dish but very tasty.

Having read some of the reviews we were somewhat sceptical. As long time visitors to the area we were keen to experience a cuisine we had rather neglected of late. However, there was nothing to worry about, it was very good.We arrived quite early when the restaurant was relatively quiet. As the evening drew on it became quite busy, with both take away and eat in customers. Always a good sign.We chose a variety of dishes, all of which were very good (I should have written this last month when I would have remember what we ate!)The service was extremely good and the waiting staff very helpful. The green tea ice cream was a great hit.Weâll certainly return on our next visit to the area.

This Thai restaurant made a great impression on us when we munched the lunch specials receiving the quality customer service from the Indonesian waitress. As such five stars was given on the previous occasion. This time, we ventured into the restaurant to spoil our tastebuds by having dinner after a long day in Timaru. Upon sitting down on the chairs, we were hosted by the middle-aged Thai lady whom I assume the owner of the restaurant. She was annoyingly impatient and demanded we ordered the dishes three times in a short span of time when we were busy de-codifying the Thai English menu. My wife asked her if the meal would come with rice, she looked at my wife like seeing a fool, and abruptly said to her EXCEPT THESE, ALL DISHES NOT COME WITH RICE!' At this point, we wanted to get out of the restaurant in anticipation that we may not enjoy the snobbish attitude. Anyway, our hunger trumped and we decided to stay. Our orders, grilled chicken curry and duck something came. The curry was ok but did not justify $25 without rice. (the lady did not even ask me how spicy I wanted, so my wife unnecessarily had to struggle the very spicy dish)Duck dish was just terrible, the meat was not fresh, the taste simply not worth. We could have been better eating the duck dish in a cheap Chinese takeaway. I could not believe we spent $60 ($6 for just rice) on something that gave us a sheer unpleasant dining experience. The cashier boy needs to be replaced for the sake of the restaurant unless he learns to shave his untidy beard and how to smile at the customers. We might still come to the restaurant at the lunchtime, which would give us double the smiles at half the price we spend at dinner time. But never at the dinner time.We even wanted to demand a full money back. Lastly but not the least, be ready to offer the best services especially to the regulars. And the regulars may look Asian faces.

I love the food here it's so fresh and tasty and cooked right in front of you. The selection is great and the lunch price is reasonable. Good for a once a week treat. Staff are very friendly and welcoming.
