The Courthouse Cafe is open 6 days a week, from 8am-4pm. Closed Wednesdays. Open Thursday and Saturday nights from 5-8pm for Takeaway Gourmet Pizzas.
We rang ahead from Takaka for lunch in case they were busy as we understand they have limited tables inside and it was raining on this particular day. When we arrived our table had been reserved as promised and we sat down to a most enjoyable lunch of homemade pasta of the day and a beautiful soup. The service was excellent and the chef kindly replaced the mushrooms in the pasta as I am not big on mushrooms. The menu is a bit limited but complemented by a cabinet full of pre made options. Highly recommended.

This is place where one can get a good pizza on the way home from Farewell Spit. The menu is limited and the offerings, other than pizza, are run of the mill. They have both inside and outside seating and service is efficient. They also have a range of beers on tap.

We came in for dinner during our stay in Collingwood. This is the place it town - packed with locals chatting about the goings on and playing pool. I can't imagine this place during a rugby game. I ordered the fried seafood platter and unfortunately everything tasted the same......the batter was a little funky. It was also very overpriced. I had much better blue cod elsewhere for half the price. A great place to drink a pint but you might want to skip the fried food.

Fantastic views from this cafe and able to sit at a table faceing Farewell Spit. Friendly staff and quick service for our lunch.

Brewery/bar/cafe/music venue Closed late July til early September
We stopped here for dinner while travelling back to Takaka from Collingwood. The inn has a relaxed atmosphere and the locals we spoke to were welcoming. We felt at home in the wooded interior which is interestingly decorated and has a large fireplace. The staff were friendly and efficient in taking and serving our order: Anatoki salmon with baked potato and side salad, pavlova and chocolate cake with cream were all delicious. The Inn is also famous for it's brewery and we tried a selection of the beers which were greatly enjoyed. Thoroughly recommended.
