We stopped by Clyde because of its historical significance. We followed the booklet Walk Around Historic Clyde admiring the history and stone buildings. It was in Blyth Street we found this old building transformed into a pub style eatery. Inside was a huge fire making it toasty warm inside. Lots of character with wooden floors combined with stone walls and antiques of all types. We decided to have some lunch with the menu showing plenty of options with consideration to my vegetarian diet as well as gluten free choices. The meals were wonderful freshly prepared and beautifully presented. Service was most efficient with a warm friendly welcome from our hosts. Thank you for helping make our unplanned visit to Clyde worth the effort with your kind hospitality.

The Merchant of Clyde is already becoming a regular one-stop-shop for locals and visitors in Clyde, who are soaking up the flavours of Olivers' cafe-delicatessen-bakery. And for those who truly love their coffee - we're proud to be selling the Hummingbird
We chose The Merchant randomly when we stopped in Clyde. We were very pleased that we did. Lovely tea - tea of the day is a great idea, but the highlight was the chicken & vegie pastie - absolutely delicious. We will come back in summer so we can enjoy the courtyard!

I stopped in for lunch during a bike ride, and was so captivated by what this small cafe offered. The quality of soup, served with mini cheese muffins, was impeccable, and the perfect option for a cold winterâs day. Likewise the coffee was great. Customer service was excellent and it was very clear that the owner cared about every little detail to make the customerâs dining experience very pleasant and enjoyable. This cafe stood out. Would wholeheartedly recommend.

We dined with friends for lunch on a gorgeously sunny day.Our table was outdoors under a magnificently shady tree, in a marvellous woodlandish setting. The food was DIVINE (fresh and tasty) !! Service - TERRIFICMy husband's pavlova choice for dessert was INCREDIBLE !! ENORMOUS portion and delicious !! He was THRILLED !!We drove to the restaurant - you can not walk there from town - it is simply too far. But many people bike there.Well worth the trip no matter what your mode of transport
Been here in the past for lunch, appears to me now a function centre. Environs, service and food very good. Great venue for wedding and friendly proprietors.
