We walked in and sat at a table, a group of 6 of us, wait staff didn't attend to us for 7 minutes, so we got the menus off their table ourselves.Mains are priced $25-$30, unfortunately portion sizes of some items are rather small. The most expensive main, blue cod, was incredibly stingy. More batter than fish and not even a sufficient portion of chips to fill one up.The restaurant is for sale, hopefully a change of ownership will make a difference. This location has so much potential.

Bluff Fish and Chips

This place does need a major make over as this could make it the leading tourist attraction in Bluff. People travel far for a good feed of fish and chips near the coast. We had coffee outside it was good.

Drunken Sailor Cafe

After a long drive along a scenic coastal road, we arrived at Bluff Point, the southernmost occupied place in South Island. Decided on the spur of the moment to have a late lunch at the Drunken Sailor Cafe, a large restaurant overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We ordered a Seafood Platter for two but for our convenience and at no charge it was divided into two platters, and what a dish! The individual seafood items were tastefully arranged and beautifully cooked to make an excellent feast, perhaps more suited to dinner than for lunch. We both enjoyed the meal and sent our congratulations to the chef. The staff were welcoming and friendly, as we had come to expect from all in New Zealand. The cost of the meal was a shock in that it was so reasonable! I would have no hesitation in recommending a visit.
