We have no issue with the food at all, it was all wonderful but the owners attitude to a group of 13 people was pretty bad.Considering we were virtually the only ones there.We had to go in shifts, I thought it must have been a small restaurant but it wasnât. I thought perhaps the kitchen was small but it wasnât . They just donât like lots arriving at once. If they could have explained to us we wouldnât all get our meals together we would never been very happy. So our group of ladies 5, went together,then 4 men ,then a another mixed 4.When the men of 4 wanted to share a sticky wine after dinner with us ladies they wouldnât allow it.That was carrying it a bit far. They could have shut the door so they wouldnât hear us but no.Considering the amount we spent I think that was pretty poor.So donât expect to go if youâre a group.I think they would have taken at least $1800 from us all.Great food, pity about their attitude.

Had lunch here on sunny day looking out onto the bay so setting was faultless. Lady behind the counter seemed very uninterested but thankfully the Food was really good!

In the first place, let me say this is not exactly a restaurant. The Perfect Dinner provides a service...a moveable feast. The hosts of the Observation Rock Lodge bring the Perfect Dinner to your Stewart Island holiday accommodation. The menu is locally sourced produce prepared with care and flair and Annett is happy to discuss a special menu with you. If hyou are loooking for a special treat in a far away place - and have a little extra in your wallet - this is well worth looking into.
