Went with five other friends who all enjoyed their meals at very reasonable prices. The food was very good standard pub food but the waitress could have been a bit more hospitable. Enjoyed the cod meal. Others had the rib special. The female toilets had no paper and weren't the best. I informed the waitress who didn't take it too well.

Winner of Wild Tomato magazine's best regional rural restaurant 2010 and recommended by both North and South and Cuisine magazines, Riverside Cafe is an integral part of the historic Riverside Community (est.1941). We serve fantastic fair-trade coffee, an
Last enjoyed meals at this unique cafe approx 12 years ago.. management has changed ..and the standard of food is still excellent. If you care about fresh healthy and creative food then do visit. Love love the picturesque little historic cottage covered in vines..enjoyed our meal on the verandah on a warm day..plenty of shade or sunny spots in the garden at the front and back of the cottage with a play area for children at one side..or you can sit inside. Good menu selection with a selection of baked goods on the counter. We both enjoyed hot smoked salmon tender omelettes with a fresh green mix on top and a touch of pesto on the side. Couldn't go past a slice of decadent Chocolate and caramel mud cake and Berry Frangipani slice to follow. Great coffee. Pleasant helpful service.

Stopped off here after driving back from the Farewll Spit for a bite to eat and drink. this is an old converted wool/shearing shed made into a real nice Cafe etc. the Scones were just so tasty with the jam & cream .The staff were very nice also and there were a few animals to interest the children and the views over Tasman towards Nelson were awesome.

Do not expect fresh or home cooked meals. Have seen more wholesome ingredients in a KFC family bucket.Staff were rude to a couple of tourists within earshot.Everything on our plates came from a packet, most likely from the freezer.Coffee wasn't terrible.

The Sprig & Fern Tavern in Motueka is somewhat of a hidden gem set behind the busy main street. We are a traditional, friendly kiwi tavern with a bright, fresh interior. There are no TVs or pokies to distract you from enjoying the excellent craft beer and
The teachers at my school decided to go here for a farewell party because their menu advertises gluten free and vegan options, and that they accomodate dietary requirements or allergies. I spoke at length with two different servers about GF and vegan options before ordering because gluten has landed me in the hospital before and I generally keep a vegan diet. I saw a vegetarian pizza on the menu, gluten free with goat cheese. I asked if they could take the cheese off, they said no, everything is pre-made, but I also know that goat cheese isnt so hard on my digestive system like cow and I was sharing with a group so we ordered that and fries. When the meal came, the fries looked suspicious to me and everyone else at the table said "dont worry, they're just deep fried". I decided to check yet again and it turned out that yes, they are breaded, and it doesnt say so on the menu and the servers didnt know. The pizza came, it looked greasy but good, we ate it, it was delicious, and a friend ordered a second. The second was covered in mozzerella. It turns out our pizza had had mozz on it too but since it was a bit overcooked, you couldnt see it from under the veggies. Needless to say I've had a headache for going on 20 hours and it sucks. I asked to talk to the manager as 1. this could have been a dangerous situation if I hadnt triple checked and 2. why am I giving money to people that are feeding me food that I don't ask for, that isnt as advertised, and that made me sick. I was told that the managers were out of town for three weeks and I could bring it up with them when they return. Really? No one pit in charge in their absence? No one to deal with customer complaints? No one to rectify the situation for three weeks? Needless to say, I'm never going to Sprig and Fern again.

The doughnuts seem to be a big draw card here, and rightly so they are very good. However, we ate here on Sunday night and the food was very good - interesting and tasty. Staff, service and coffee all good to. You must go at least once or twice.Important planning information - they were closed on Monday and Tuesday. Work around that.
