open early...serves breakfast till five..till FIVE! that's RIGHT sleep in and you won't miss a beat...but let's get down to the meat...or salmon, actually...the meat in this case is bacon on a wonderful piece of thick toast...accompanied by 2 perfectly poached eggs and smothered in, maybe(and i've eat this dish around the world, but mostly in the san francisco area. hundreds of times) the best hollandaise sauce i've ever tasted...thick, but not TOO...and that hint of lemon is there. the service was flawless and the atmosphere casual...and the price was undeniably reasonable...i can't believe i waited as long as i did to check it out...the last few establishments on this corner folded after a bit..i just thought this would do the same... SO glad it didn't...

The restaurant is located in a small alley off old center of Leiden inner city. What a find. They serve an unique Afternoon Tea set made of a selection of coffees or teas, fresh pressed orange juice, savoury Tosti with cheese, salami and cheese with ham, together with various mayo dips and chips. Deliciously prepared. This follows by an apple cake and Tosti made with chocolate and banana. Seriously good. All their staffs are so passionate and motivated. It is unique and if you are in the neighborhood, try ot, you won't be disappointed. We will return Dear Julie, What an amazing review! We appreciate your recommendation for the high Tos-Tea. I've never been to a restaurant before where the chef openly greats you and who's genuinely nice and passionate about what he does until I discovered this place.Aside from the awesome industrial interior design and the nice service, the place makes you feel comfortable at once. I haven't really tried all of their food, but I can definitely say that I love the "kip kapsalon" and the Tom Kha Kai soup.

I'd ordered a Lamb Tajine and the food was indeed served in a Tajine pot, thats where the quality ended. The dish dish didn't actually have any Tajine spices and was more a french style dish, oregano, tarragon etc. I don't think they should advertise it as Moroccan when it clearly wasn't. Also, there were only a few tiny pieces of lamb. My girlfriend ordered a potato carrot stew and received what appeared to be beans from a tin.The red house wine (Merlot if I recall correctly) was brilliant!Dear,We'd like to let you know that Restaurant Catootje aan de Markt has a new owner since January First this year.We have a small menu consisting of fresh and healthy meals from the French-Moroccan cuisine. The building is a wild mix of late 19th and early 20th century decor. Very attractive.The menu is short but interesting. Food tasted great.The service was excellent; friendly and prompt.It's only a shame that the place is only open until spring 19.
