Having lived in Bangkok for many years and experienced the delights of Thai food, here at Siri Thai you can enjoy the wonderful food cooked to perfection by the Thai owner in person. Inside dining is somewhat restricted however there are outside tables during the fine weather but whatever you do BOOK a table to avoid disappointment. This venue is a must for lovers of Thai cuisine. Enjoy

In the centre of Leiden, near a canal. For 27,50 you can get a three-course meal (other days 24,50). The service is fast and the meals are very tasty. The second Floor is very noisy when there are a lot of guests . Downstairs is better.

Critically acclaimed as the best Thai restaurant in the Netherlands by some. So, as Thailand connoisseurs I decided to surprise my girlfriend and check it out.It smelt good, when we entered. Meaning that they spices used where most definitely Thai. Always a good sign. Just as the fact that I was promptly served a small bowl of fish sauce and red and green chilly peppers when I asked for prik nam pla. You know you're in a good Thai restaurant when that happens. We started with tod nam pla (fish cakes) and spring rolls. They where very, very good.But...Service was very average. Two young member of staff (both non Thai) didn't have an clue about what Thai culture, food or what they where doing. They where simply 'waiting tables'. One member of staff wanted to take my bowl of prik nam pla away, as it wasn't finished yet after our starter. Of course it wasn't finished. It's a side dish called prik nam pla! The wait between starter and main was too lon, without any explanation or any apologies. The spices used where very good. Thai basil and strong coriander. The paneng curry however, was advertised as spicy. But it most certainly wasn't. Being a mild spicy dish in Thailand, I ate a very good paneng kai in the south of Thailand which was about ten times more spicy then this one. Girlfriend had phad ped kai, which was good. But not spicy at all. I know a Thai restaurant in the Netherlands where 'spicy' means 'spicy', just like Thailand. Very disappointing that these dishes weren't spicy at all. I'd say that someone who orders prik nam pla, would be getting a spicy dish when advertised so.Prices a bit on the high side for the service given. So, was the food good? Yes. But the best Thai restaurant in the Netherlands? Certainly not.
