When visiting Holland , the windmills of Kinderdijk are a must see.This can be combined with a visit of the architectural wonders of rotterdam.What many visitors do not know is that there is a hidden surprise near this.It is the restaurant "De wachter" in Alblasserdam. In Holland well known from the restaurant guide "Lekker". The name of that guide says it all. The food in De Wachter is really Lekker or very fine. I live very near Alblasserdam bu only recently discovered this restaurant.Great place with warm and friendly staff. Open kitchen and you can watch the kitchen crew creating your finest dish. we had a perfect evening. Just took the menu and combined that with the staffs choice of wine.we will certainly be back!get there by the "waterbus" or fast ferr\y. Or just grab a cab. It is worth every penny!

We went for lunch on a sunday afternoon.It was quiet busy but we found a table.After 10 minutes I walked to a waiter and asked for the menu and drinklist.We orderd the drinks and food.Another 10 minutes waiting and our drinks arrived.My carpaccio was very wel prepared, the bread and olive oil are good. My friend had a egg dish with ham and tomato. This dish was nothing special. Good wines.Staff friendly but not well trained. Holiday workers?Inside seating has a lot of tables but the quality of the air is not good. All our clothes were smelling.

Happened upon this restaurant by chance staying nearby in the pleasant old town of Dordrecht. The restaurant is small and comfortable with excellent service and GREAT food. Definitely fine dining and definitely a place for foodies. Well worth a visit if you're in the locale...try!

Better either book or get there early 'cos this restaurant is very busy - most evenings, we were told.But worth a visit - it's a great all-rounder. Good location in a newish part of Papendrecht, good décor, lovely atmosphere inside, busy(noisy a little bit), very good menu choices, good bar and wines and good service.We were all very happy with our dishes - starters and mains. Great food, warm people and great, friendly, personal service. During our stay in Dordrecht we went there 3 times, the 3rd time bringing back friends. The food is really tasty and authentic. The best table is a table for 2 by the window overlooking the canal. The only downside is there is another table for 2 right next to it, really close, but the 2 tables would be ideal for a group of 4. Highly recommended, as much for the staff as for the food... an enjoyable dining experience.

Returned with friends for a lateish supper. As usual, the welcome was warm & friendly, couple of drinks at the bar then seated for dinner. Restaurant is really warm, cozy, staff attentive and the food, excellent as usual as was the wine selection, overall, they consistently deliver exactly what we wanted, lovely spot, happy environment, great food & drinks, whats not to like?

When we arrived at this medium sized bistro (about 50 seats) we were warmly welcomed and escorted to our table.The waiter (Peter) went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. We wanted to order wine by the glass and had plenty to choose from against acceptable prices for a decent size glass. Water from the tap for free (that's how it should be!). All our dishes were well prepared and tasted delicious and were nicely decorated and laid out. For 50 euro per person for a three-course meal, accompanied with five glasses of good wine (the desert wines are worthwhile mentioning) we left feeling very happy and will certainly be back soon!

We visited The Erwtenpeller Bistro on the evening of Valentine's Day withjust the two of us. We were received at the door. The decor was warm / cozy with a gas fireplace through which one can see the other part of the restaurant. All tables are arranged so that you can always look out with a view at the busy rivers Merwede, North and Oude Maascoming together and the skyline of the historic city of Dordrecht.The dining experience is beyond that of what you'd normally expect from a bistro. My husband opted for the 3 course Valentine menu (30 euros) and I made my choice from the "normal" three-course menu (34 euros). Possibly we could choose 4 courses. We got an appetizer and fresh bread beforehand. The signs were put up tasteful. The fries were fabulously tasty and there was also a salad. The meat super tender (veal rib-eye and sirloin from the Valentine's menu). Really mature flavor.If I can still give something of criticism: the dessert was very tasty, but for a bistro it may in my opinion have more volume. And one of the waitresses was a bit unsure and uncomfortable about. We assume that it will be fine, because it seems to us inspiring to work in such a fine restaurant.We definitely come back and take over other people it!

I'm rating this very good for what it is, a buffer restaurant. It doesn't quite compare to a normal restaurant. IT's a fairly new place behind a KFC and a MacD. Shares the same building as the Fuji chinese place which is listed on tripadvisor seperately.Hygiene seemed quite good and there was almost continuous restocking. Price does include free softdrinks and coffee. Alcoholic drinks you will have to fetch yourself and pay seperately.There's about 40 warm dishes on the buffet as well as cold meats and sea foods. You can get fish and meat grilled for you for which there can be quite a queue. Things I tasted where generally quite good except for the grilled lobsters and crayfish which were massively overcooked, tough and rubbery and the ensis clams which were really sandy. All in all not a bad concept, grab what you like, no waiting for orders, ideal if you're on a budget or with a group including children.
