One of its most prized attractions, De Waag on the town square, was once a weighing house for cheese traders and now features an exhibit detailing the entire cheese making process. We were met by a friendly waitress and promptly seated. Our drinks order taken and served pretty quickly. They have a great variety of meals to chose from and we all opted for the â¬25 special where you get a starter, main and dessert. Excellent value for money and the food was really great. We didnât have too long to wait for it either. Suggest if you eat here to go a bit earlier than normal eating time as it is very popular.

We went on a Saturday evening making a booking at very short notice. Booking is needed on many nights. We failed to get in on our previous 2 attempts. The staff are very welcoming. We arrived a little early for our table and were seated at the bar with a drink on the house while we waited for our table to clear. The food was excellent with one of the best burgers I have had anywhere. The entrecote was also beautifully cooked. The grand dessert which we shared was magnificent with seven different mini desserts.Excellent review. Very happy with.Thank you.

The Grand Cafe was founded in 1916 by the grand parents of the current owner. The expertise of almost 100 years hospitality makes this a unique place. The drive for best service and quality is the motivator to serve our guests. At a fair price we will wel
Early on a September Saturday evening the old-fashioned interior was already full but luckily it was still warm enough to eat outside, with a good view over the market square. The cheese soup, with bits of bacon, celery etc, was very good but also very filling, which slightly spoilt my enjoyment of the traditional pan-fried mussels and chips which followed. Perhaps I should have gone for the pear and blue cheese salad which my wife had and which would have been a lighter option. We were told that we could have extra portions of chips for free but we were too full for that. Never mind, the food, a couple of beers and watching the world go by made for a very pleasant evening. By the way, noted that they stopped serving food at 8.30pm.

The restaurant is in a convenient location near the square. Food is of high Italian standard, including pasta, entree. Recommend to try the salted fish, which is of high quality. French Frites are superb. Even the dessert will keep surprising you, making you mistaking that you are in Italy. Try Penna cotta and tiramisu, which are superb.

This restaurant was recommended by my sister and brother in law. We arrived without a reservation but were able to get a table. The waiting staff was excellent and the food was good and reasonably priced. The portions of the mains were however on the small side and it pays to get an entrée or some sides if you are hungry. Try the Texels Wit beer when you are there.

Stopped in on our way out of Gouda after a short day trip. We wanted a coffee and sweet treat. Apparently there are a few of these shops throughout Holland. We had a pleasant time and our coffee and food were tasty. We enjoyed our latte's and cappuccino as well as some banana bread. It was gluten/sugar free but very very tasty. There seem to be a lot of healthy items on the menu so I am eager to visit again for a full meal. I would definitely try out this place a few more times. Stop in and give them a try....at least grab a coffee and a piece of the yummy banana bread. The cranberries give it just the right amount of sweetness.

THE place to be De munt food ⢠drinks! Good coffee, homemade pastry, best lunches, nice drinks, good food and the best gin tonics and cocktails! Good quality, meat, fish, vegetarian, vegan. De Munt has it all! De Munt is situated in an old bank building.
This is a very nice restaurant in many respects. The interior is very nice and excellent service. I think the chef also really knows how to cook as shown by the good taste of several of the dishes, with special compliments for the French fries. However, some serious problems need to be fixed. An almost complete lack of healthy vegetables is nowadays hardly acceptable anymore. Furthermore, all dishes were far too high on calories, e.g. the pumpkin soup, and especially the dessert was completely over the top with too much cookies and other stuffing ingredients. So if they adapt to modern times and give much more attention to healthy ingredients, that by the way most often can also taste great, this restaurant has a great future.
