Historic restaurant featuring the best prime rib in the Black Hills! Hand cut steaks, trout and wild caught salmon are our specialties. Full service resort includes Cabin & RV site rentals from May through October. Restaurant is open year round.
There were a lot of positives about our stay at Horse Creek Inn. We loved the beautiful, peaceful location. Cabin #14 is very nice, with a large modern kitchen, living room and bathroom. It also has central air, a washer/dryer and TV with many channels. That being said there were two large negatives - the bed is terrible. It is the worst bed we have ever encountered on our travels. The box springs are broken and it makes loud noises if you move. When sitting on the side of the bed you sink down at least six inches. We had to use the sofa bed (yikes) also, because my husband and I could not sleep in the bed together. There were also some cleanliness issues with windowsills filled with dead bugs, hair in the batbtub, a very musty smell and the outside area is neglected. Cabin #1 is a three bedroom, one bathroom unit with an amazing view. The rooms are very small though, and for a family of five it was very cramped. The only way to all be together was on the nice, large deck. There is also no TV or central air, just window units. Overall we had a lovely vacation in the Black Hills. It is just too bad that the beds were sooooooo uncomfortable that we couldn't get a decent nights rest.Thank you for taking the time to post your review. We had replaced the box spring early this spring but it sounds as if we need to do so again. Sofa bed mattresses are notoriously uncomfortable and we will try to find a decent one to replace it - again. We apologize for your discomfort and will take immediate steps to correct the problem.

My grandson & I did the trail ride while my wife and granddaughter took the covered wagon and we all enjoyed the ride to the chuckwagon. Good Cowboy poetry, music and jokes followed by a very tasty chuckwagon dinner. The cowboys were genuine and a lot of fun.

My wife and I ate here for dinner shortly after arriving in Hill City. The cafe is a throwback to those common in earlier years. The food is also a throwback to earlier times and I recommend you stick with basic foods that are easily prepared by almost anyone. My wife ordered chicken-fried steak and liked it, which is a great compliment to the cafe because my wife is normally disappointed when she orders this item at restaurants. However, I ordered fried shrimp and that was a big mistake. The shrimp were the frozen kind you can buy yourself at any grocery store. They were a little mushy, as frozen shrimp can be. I really wished I had ordered a hamburger. Both of us were disappointed in our vegetables, which were a frozen "vegetable medley" which meant peas, carrots, and green beans that were a little chewy and pretty tasteless. Surprisingly, the dinner rolls were also disappointing--small and a little dry. Service was friendly and decent for this type of eatery. The desserts in the display case looked good, but we decided to pass. Prices were OK for the area, but a little pricey compared to what you would normally expect to pay at a cafe.

We stopped here on our bus tour. The town was crowded with bikers for the Sturgis rally. The place was pretty busy and we got one of the last booths-shared it with a couple from the tour. The service was pretty good. I had the elk burger-good but on the dry side. The decor is 50's diner. Ok, but nothing special.

Thirsty after exploring the Black Hills and Sylvan Lake, we pulled into the Silver Dollar Saloon based on its amusing marquee sign -- one which promised: "Beer as cold as your ex-wife's heart." LOL Found reasonably-friendly service within. Kinda crowded. Full bar and food. Cash only I believe. Comfy seats. Some bikers. Some families with kids. Huge stuffed mountain lion. Darts, pinball, etc. Worth stopping.

We came here one night for just a drink at the bar and one night for dinner. Both nights we had excellent service in a fun atmosphere. Drinks are reasonable and the dinner was excellent. Would suggest this to anyone traveling to Hill City.

Experience our award-winning wines in a fun and relaxed setting in the heart of the Black Hills. Find us three miles northwest of Hill City on Highway 385, just a few miles from Mount Rushmore National Memorial and Crazy Horse Memorial. Weâre Hill Cityâs
Very beautiful winery with great tasting wine. However, donât go near closing time. We got dirty looks, almost like we were bothering them, while they were trying to close. We walked in at 7:00pm and they closed at 8:00pm. We just wanted to sample a few wines and purchase a bottle or two. We walked around âlostâ until someone finally greeted us and showed us which bar was still open, to taste wines at. ***Once at that bar, the ladies pouring the wines and describing them, were FANTASTIC! Very nice, and very helpful. I was just disappointed there was no host/hostess to greet you at the door and make you feel welcome. Thank you for taking the time to visit Prairie Berry Winery and share your feedback with us! We're sorry to hear that at first your experience did not live up to your expectations, and we thank you for staying to sample our wines and for leaving a kind review. We are happy to hear you enjoyed our wine in the end. We appreciate your feedback!

Arrived late afternoon and was promptly and pleasantly greeted at the door. Seated right away and given menus. Waitress immediately brought our drinks and answered a couple questions we had. We placed our order for a couple cheeseburgers and checked the place out while waiting. Beautiful wood everywhere. Meal arrived promptly. Burger was premade, but cooked to a perfect medium. Fries were excellent and unlimited. Waitress brought out a wine carafe to refill out root beers and left it for additional refills even asking if we wanted more when it was empty. What a great experience and wonderful staff. Good food reasonably priced. I highly recommend when in the area.

I'll say average for the price. Boy, everyone made this place out to be something. I'll tell you the people line up all over the place. Not worth the wait or the Money, Supposed to have this great Filet...Not so great! I would not go back there for dinner, or tell anyone else to either. But others really talked about the German lunch that they serve. Might be better off there for lunch
