Quite possibly the best cupcake I've ever eaten! The cake was light as air! The frosting was fluffy and not too sweet! Whoever is making these cupcakes deserves a medal! Unfortunately I have discovered that not all locations in this franchise provide the same level of baking expertise. They cost $4.00 per cupcake but are so worth it!
We actually really like the smoothies and really like the food here. The sandwiches are great. We however really miss a soda machine. We probably would eat here weekly if they had one. It is just more comfortable with a meal and wouldn't stop me from getting a smoothy when I'd like one even to go after.

Two friends were in town to attend a funeral and we wanted to get together for brunch. I suggested that we give the Whistle Stop a try since itâs close to the church and the menu looked interesting. Itâs a tiny place and they were full at first but there was a table on the sidewalk for us. After quite a wait the waitress took our orders: two grits bowls, one oatmeal bowl and a muffin. It took an extremely long time to get our food - at least 30 to 45 minutes. During this time my friend had to ask the waitress three times for a glass of water before she finally received it. When the food arrived the grits and oatmeal were barely warm. How could this happen? Surely these dishes were already hot on the stove and just needed to be dished up for us. The waitress was polite and apologized but gave no explanation. She offered to reduce the bill if I wanted her to. I was embarrassed to have taken my friends here to wait so long for such a poor meal.

When we moved here 33 yrs ago, this was the only lunch spot downtown. A recent visit found that nothing has changed, except for the crowds.. On a Thurs for lunch, there was just one other table occupied the whole lunch hour.....the same adhesive tape holding the booth cushion together is still there. Tables & seats falling apart. Same paper menus, except there's only one per table, and they look 33 yrs old! Food & menu are exactly the same, even the posted soups of the day. Waitress looked like she just crawled out of bed and then cleaned some toilets...Sandwiches are excellent, just that they are small by today's standards. Our check appeared to be someone else's. But the cashier saw this coming , and replied, "Flip it over, we recycle." With all the new places downtown, this one needs to remodel, get a new attitude, or fold.

We always have to stop here and eat whenever we are near the Augusta area. We will even plan our trips around their hours. The hours are a bit weird since they are open on certain Saturdays and every fourth Sunday. The food is always fresh and hot when they bring it out to you and the staff has always been friendly. If you're looking for southern comfort food with great hospitality then this is definitely what you're looking for! Parking is on the street but we've never really had any issues with finding a place to park!

We visited on a Friday evening for dinner. Not crowded. Only one other table occupied and they were cussing quite a bit and loud, (not the restaurants fault). The waitress constantly reached over me to give things or take things away. I had to put up with her arm/hand in my face sometimes while I was trying to eat. It was hot in there. BUT the decor was cool and the food was good.

Went there without a reservation for Brunch and was given a look and smirk that âthey usually recommend reservations for the Brunchâ. Then he offered us a table right next to the front door. Oh well. Then 10 minutes pass before our waitress asks us whether we want a coffee or drink. They actually seat a party at the table next to us which is reserved and immediately get service whether they want a drink! What does that mean- if you donât have a reservation, expect to be ignored?? When we get our coffee and tea, we place our orders and they do come quick. The Elk Sage Sausage biscuit was just so so. My Egg Julienne was okay but the Hollandaise sauce was cold! Both orders came with cold hash browns a bit on the soggy side. Iâll pass and wonât be back I think. Nothing special.

Our approach to dining is to provide a totally unique, high quality experience with fresh breads, home baked desserts, and great tasting, chef prepared dishes at casual dining prices.
We stopped here to have dessert and coffee. Boy were we disappointed. The cakes look good and are Ginormous but the quality leaves much to be desired. We ordered a coffee and we got cafeteria style - very yucky quality coffee with no real creamer just packets of the rubbish powdery creamer! Yuck! We would not go back! Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We're sorry to hear that you didn't have a great experience with us. We pride ourselves on the food we serve, so it's disheartening to know that it did not meet your standards. We hope you are willing to give us another shot, so we have the opportunity to redeem ourselves in your eyes!
