Kenny loves making BBQ. WOW! ...and he is VERY serious about the quality of his product. His focus and desire to make "the perfect BBQ" is intense. He smokes his own pork right out front and makes his own sauces. This is good food! This might also be the cleanest eating establishment I have EVER been in. PK BBQ prices are fair and the menu is broad enough for most - assuming you like BBQ. This is a BBQ joint. There is no salad bar and I would be totally disappointed if there was one. There were plenty of sides available, but I went for the BBQ.I was not disappointed.

We ordered thru a local delivery company. The order consisted of two pounds of BBQ pork and one pound of BBQ ribs (also had rice/hash, beans and Mac and cheese). Driver delivered the order, but only had two containers of BBQ pork, no ribs in the bag. The driver stated he would go back to get the ribs. The driver returned with the ribs, but stated that the restaurant refused to give him the ribs unless one of the containers of BBQ was returned, because they think they must have put three pounds of BBQ in the containers instead of two pounds plus one pound of ribs (not sure, but not huge containers). He was very frustrated, and ended up having to pay for the ribs himself in order to be able to bring them back out to us. Very unprofessional way to run a business. Receipt clearly stated what we ordered, but they did not honor this. What makes it worse is that they BBQ and hash were bland, and not near the quality or taste of other surrounding BBQ restaurants. Won't be eating their food again!

South Carolina's Favorite Wood-Fired BBQ. Located conveniently in the heart of Lexington, SC.
Convenient location on I-20 headed west, easy on and off. Those are the reasons we stopped at Maurice's.However, we were very satisfied with the sandwiches, and really enjoyed the sauce. They provide additional sauce at the table and I ended up adding the sauce after every bite! So, on balance, the food was pretty good, the restaurant was a very basic, no frills BBQ joint. So, if you're on I-20, headed west at lunchtime...........

Great place, plenty of parking, kind of small, but worth the wait. The BEST brisket I have ever had!! Pulled pork came in second place. They have a small meat sauce "bar" with four choices; two are tomato based and two are mustard. Unfortunately, no vinegar based sauce (my personal favorite!). The brisket needed nothing on it anyway! Hubbu and I shared sides: macaroni and cheese (the canned kind-meh), hash and rice (good), hush puppies (nice and oniony and mushy on the inside-Yum!) and Brunswick Stew (really good!). We also tried the sausage (moist in a good greasy kind of way) and smoked turkey (bland). They also have St. Louis ribs which we will definitely try next time. Prices were good (2 meats and two sides for $12.49). Staff is very friendly and helpful.

I am so picky about ribs. Most places bake them and then just sear the sauce over a grill. These are huge ribs, and smoky through and through! The price is good for 2 huge ribs and 2 sides is around $10 and about $7 for only the ribs. I have been twice and can't bring myself to try anything else because the ribs are SO good!

Their BBQ is usually very good or we wouldnât have eaten there or bought takeout from them so many times. However, BBQ chicken=fried chicken??? I donât think so! We have bought takeout dinners for groups of friends at Hudsonâs many times and they always seem to have at least one or two minor mixups. This last time ( and it will be our last ) 7 dinners of BBQ chicken turned out to be FRIED chicken when we opened the boxes. Unfortunately, we were at our friendâs home 18 miles away on Lake Murray before we discovered the error. I heard my wife distinctly order breast and wing white meat BBQ chicken dinners. Several of our friends had dietary restrictions, my wife NEVER eats fried foods and we had to scramble for something to eat. When I called to complain, I was put on hold for a while and then told that the breast and wing dinners only come fried. I said that they should have told my wife at the time of the order. They responded that we should have ordered âsmokedâ white meat chicken and implied that it was our fault that we didnât get what we wanted. I told them that was unacceptable and I expected some consideration on the bill. After another long hold while the issue was discussed with management, I was told the they would only deduct the cost difference between the smoked and fried chicken from our bill. What an insult! They should have comped most of the bill since the only thing they got right was most of the side items. If your restaurant has BBQ in its name and someone orders takeout BBQ, should you not at least attempt to regain some good will by taking responsibility for giving them fried instead of BBQ? Oops, I forgot- we should have asked for âsmokedâ. We have spent hundreds of dollars at Hudsonâs, but they wonât get any more business from us because of their poor attitude towards repeat customers. Perhaps I will challenge any charges from them when my charge card bill comes in.
