Casual French bistro where you will experience the same gracious hospitality as the coastal gentry of Kiawah and Seabrook Island.
We had reservations for 7 and we were accommodated very nicely. A nice big table, very roomy and not crowded together. Our waiter AJ was absolutely fabulous. The food was over the top. The steak, seafood selections, and vegetables were prepared wonderfully. Be sure to get the cheesecake for dessert, it is to die for.

My husband & I planned an extended weekend trip to Seabrook Island to celebrate our anniversary and knew that we would definitely dine at The Fat Hen for that special occasion. We made in advance a reservation for around 5:30pm because we know you have to get here early to get a good inside table. There is ample parking in the back and when we entered the back there were numerous people still waiting to be seated before our 5:30pm time.We were seated to a comfortable and cozy corner table where our amazing & friendly server, Mindy came over to greet us. She knew right away that we were celebrating our #51st anniversary and said she planned to make it special for us!First, we both ordered a refreshing and favorite Good ol' Boy Gimlet. This definitely did not disappoint!Mindy was ever-present, circling but not being intrusive. She wanted to give us all the time we needed to enjoy our celebration! We REALLY appreciated this!Next, she came over to take our dinner orders. I ordered one of my previous favorites...the Salmon Bearnaise with mashed potatoes & asparagus. My husband ordered the Grilled pork tenderloin that came with sweet potatoes and asparagus.Mindy also brought over a small board containing home made bread with butter. Our dinners were exquisite and cooked to perfection!!Mindy came by our table as we were sharing an anniversary toast and proceeded to announce to some of the surrounding tables that we were celebrating our anniversary of 51 years this very night. We then received warm regards from these close by tables. Oh, what a sweet gesture that was! Finally, a special treat from Mindy. She asked what dessert treat we would like to share? We settled on the Vanilla Cheesecake. Our cheesecake came with a lighted candle on top that we both blew out together. The cheesecake consisted of fresh raspberries, with a pretzel crust, raspberry filling and prosecco gelee. Soooo decadent!!What an amazing anniversary celebration! This is one that we are still talking about to our family and friends to this day. This was such a romantic, special occasion that not only included the best service ever, but the food was just "out of this world" delicious! Now you all can see why we keep coming back and look forward to each and every visit to The Fat Hen. Rest assured that whenever we are in the area again, this will be our first stop for another outstanding treat!Thank you again Mindy, you succeeded in making this a very special evening!!Wow, thank you so much for the glowing review. We are so pleased that we could make such a special night so enjoyable for you. Congratulations! It is nice to hear that you thought so very highly of the food, your service, and overall experience here. Thank you for continuing to visit us and for the kind words you pass along to others. Hope to have you back soon.Cheers! The Fat Hen
