I had been wanting to visit Fodder for some time (as a result of the recommendation of others) and was not disappointed when we did.We chose the Chef's Menu (a four-course lunch at the discretion of the Chef). While the waiter wouldn't disclose what each course was (which is part of the interest in the Chef's Menu we were able to advise any food intolerances and appropriate variations were made. Each of the four course were excellent - effectively small tasting plates but all beautifully prepared.A limited dessert menu is available for those wanting something sweet to end the meal.We didn't have a tasting before or after our meal due to time limitations however the glass of Reisling I had with my meal was very pleasant. We found the staff service to be attentive and welcoming and we were thanked sincerely for coming as we left. There was really nothing we could fault from the food or service.

Best of only 2 pubs in Penola, but work to do. Food was ok, but service was poor. Each time I visited I tried something different off the menu because my previous dish was uninspiring. Service never changed. In the end, it was limited choice as to why I was eating here. Disappointing really.
The Royal Oak Penola is situated on the main street of Penola, in the heart of the Coonawarra region. Visit us for a relaxed dining experience and enjoy our seasonal menus, specially prepared by our head chef Kirby Shearing. Our bottleshop has an extensiv
No way is this worth â5 out of 5â places to eat in Penola. We stopped here for lunch last week, and ate wonderful food, prepared by a French chef (in tiny Penola!), and I drank coffee infused beer - better than it sounds. Surrounded by modern art! By no means your âtypicalâ country pub restaurant. Thanks for the kind comments Mark!

diVine Cafe located in the Coonawarra wine region, surrounded by fantastic local produce & brilliant wines; inspired to make delicious food & great coffee.
What a great find. Looking for a light lunch after exploring what is a really interesting town. Great selection on menu to choose from and all our meals (4) were high quality. Baguettes were lovely and the soup of the day (creamy chicken and vegetable) got a big thumbs up.

We were passing through Penola in the middle of the day and decided to stop here for lunch. The cafe itself was lovely with plenty of seating (necessary, given how popular it was), the staff very good and obliging, offers an extensive menu including gluten free options and gf bread as a substitute, and is licensed.I opted for an all-day breakfast whilst my wife had the cauliflower soup: all nerdy good.

Hollick Estates welcomes you to Upstairs at Hollick. A stylish, warm and inviting restaurant made to be enjoyed with friends and family whilst you savour our panoramic views across the vineyards in the heart of the Coonawarra. Weâre proud of our wines, an
I don't really post restaurant reviews on TA unless it's something special, and that's the way to describe dinner on a Saturday night at Upstairs at Hollick. If you want good food, wine, ambience and service, this is the place to be. I really wish I'd asked the waiter her name as she was great. This place really does the region proud so if you're considering somewhere special in the Coonawarra you can't go wrong.

This is not a cheap restaurant, but the food was stunning. Beautiful setting in old Methodist Church, tables widely spaced for quiet and privacy. Extensive wine list featuring the best of the Coonawarra region. Food was excellent, service friendly and professional. I had the whiting, prawns sandwiched between beautifully cooked whiting with dreamy sauce and my husband had a steak to die for! Recommended for a special event.
