We visited Haus several times during our few months near by. The pancakes were amazing each and every time. And the eggs florentine were great as well! We did visit on one occasion and ordered scones for a friend however all three scone plates delivered were under cooked and needed to be sent back. They were replaced by staff however the ones that came back were better but still weren’t great. The waitress did mention she would speak to someone and in turn the supplier after she looked at them. Overall we loved Haus and would still return and recommend. Definitely would revisit if we found ourselves staying in the Adelaide Hills again. HelloThank you so much for dining with us for breakfast and scones and for taking the time to leave us this 4-star review. We have contacted our scone supplier. We hope to welcome you back again in the near future.Kind regards,The Haus Management Team

The German Arms

A group of 4 work colleagues chose The German Arms hotel for dinner. Having been there a couple of times before I was interested in trying something new on the menu.I ordered the Jagerschnitzel which is a pork schnitzel with bacon and a nice gravy sauce with some hearty mash potato and some greens. As always the service is fast and pleasant and the portions are huge....very good value for money. We started with some wedges and some damper as well....but nearly too much to eat for us!They offer some very good German beers and a good selection of local wines as well. The atmosphere is pleasant and even though we picked trivia night the service was still very good and friendly. The German Arms is always a pleasure to eat at and Marketing I'll definitely be going again when next in Hahndorf SA.

Hahndorf is in the hills, about an hour's drive from Adelaide. It's like a little piece of Germany transplanted to South Australia, which isn't strange because the State welcomed many German immigrants. The sausages are tasty, the Germans love their wurst. almost as much as they love their beer. The staff are keen to take your order. Hahndorf is a good day-trip from Adelaide, just take it easy on the beer if you are driving.

We bought a lunch deal coupon for 2 German tasting platters for 4 as we wanted to try a variety of authentic wursts. We were welcomed cordially and professionally, and seated promptly in the small restaurant.Service was smooth and efficient and our garlic breads and platters appeared in short order. The servings were very decent, with brined pork neck, pork schnitzel and 4 plump sausages on each platter together with sauerkraut, gherkins, mashed potatoes and a mustard sauce. Nothing fancy, but tasty. It was too much for us and we ended up doggy-bagging almost 1 platter which served as dinner that night.
