Find out what French restaurants to try in Sousse. Sitting where the Phoenician colony of Hadrumetum once stood nearly 3,000 years ago, the modern-day Sousse is a resort destination, especially popular with Europeans. Sometimes called "the Pearl of the Sahel" (referring to the central section of Tunisia's eastern shoreline), Sousse is prized for its excellent beaches. Arab-Islamic since the 7th century AD, the city has many fascinating attractions, like the 9th-century Great Mosque, and its medina is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

While this is primarily an upscale coffee house, the restaurant offerings are excellent. The staff are now polished professionals and it is like an elegant Paris Cafe set in Sousse with impeccable Tunisian decorating. The owner's personal tastes? Excellent. I understand he decorated it himself. I met him many years back after he had finished his studies in Quebec and he is warm highly articulate young man who would be a success anywhere but chose on returning to Sousse. I made it a regular stop and have coffee there most days while I am in Sousse as it makes a great walk from my hotel.
Restaurant, Bar Lounge with a unique Sky Panoramic View to Sousse downtown on the highest tower. The Sousse Palace offers a magnificent view
We liked just a light lunch,so decided to try this restaurant on the top of hotel sousse palace. We had a table by the window, overlooking the sea Nice viewThe waiter Balti helped us to get a cesarsalad and a Tunisien salad. We waited for 15 min.The caesar salad was exelent, fresh fried chicken and with Parma cheese, not common in Tunisia.fresh salad and very tasty. That tusian salad was fresh ,nice with egg and olives. The bread(we had to wait 15 min fore it) BUT IT WAS WORTH IT. SUPERTASTY FRESHBAKED BREADThe waiter was very nice and polite, very good. The price is high end,but in Tunisien value.Fore us 90 Danish krona.Ok fore good quality. We recommend the placeThe toilet was clean and fresh.

Our Daughter is married to a Tunisian so we visit Sousse often to see family. We always meet friends at La Veranda as its right on the main drag so a great place to people watch. They do a range of Pizzas, omlettes,Begals, Ice creams Gooey cakes and an endless list of teas coffees and chocolate drinks. Its the cheapest place I have ever been to when compared to the UK and although the Waiters tend to favour the locals you do get served eventually.

When here with my wife and another couple for an evening out. Amazing location and very romantic. The food was good but if you think you are going to get a lot of food for what you pay, think again. It is very expensive and the portions are very small-- but you are paying for the scenery and the experience.

We visited the place middayVery empty at this time , just 5 guests and us 3 pax.We had a table just inside the door..nice with fresh air..many..maybe all cafes and restaurants allow smokers all over.. A VERY BAD THING..well the servant was very pleasant and helpful..we had some beers and cola zero. Salad , bread, small Tunisien tapas. We had the local brick...very crispy and well done. It's like fillone with egg tuna onion and mash potato inside with Tunisia spices..+we had tomatosallad. It was nicely served and was really tasteful. The service was good and we got a nice "home" feeling. The toilet was ok but no paper to dry hands. The price was very good..cheap place...cost and relaxing placeMany thanks for your valuable comment Sten, and for taking the time to publish it ..Your good words will encourage us to do even better ..I did not quite understand your note ânice with fresh air..many..maybe all cafes and restaurants allow smokers all over.. A VERY BAD THING" ..We are a no-smoking restaurant ..Maybe you are referring to the smell of incense which comes from burning light sticks of amber (smoke), which we feel is in harmony with the arabesque style and character of the restaurant and the âspiritâ of the whole ancient Medina ..Also, whenever a customer informs us of his/her discomfort of said fragrance/smoke, we remove it immediately.Regarding your note âno paper to dry handsâ, itâs really strange as the paper towel dispenser is verified every 20mn all day long, and so are the toilets. We keep a large stock of paper towels, toilet paper and other janitorial consumables at all times. On behalf of the whole Dar Soltane team, to whom I passed your message, it was a pleasure to welcome and serve you ..We hope to see you again ..!
