Agnes Gateway Hotel is located in the heart of Munda. You can literally walk from the airport to the Lodge. It is located on the water and has fabulous views over the islands. The dive shop is on the same grounds which makes diving very easy. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We stayed in one of the individual cottages which was quite large, comfortable and clean. The restaurant which is located nearby has daily specials which are very reasonably priced. The food is excellent and there is a lot of fresh seafood on the menu. Don't go there expected 5 star or a place that runs like clockwork as it doesn't. Enjoy island time and enjoy the wonderful surrounds ad very happy, friendly locals.

We are an island style cafe/restaurant located on the seaside of Honiara. We have three rooms available for bed and breakfast, an outdoor dining area. We have a wood fired pizza oven an are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
We stayed one night in the Oceanview AirBnB room and had dinner at the café. The pre-arrival communication by Kelly was very good and her replies fast. Room review Basic but clean room with a double bed, two chairs, and a few tables. There’s also a good size fridge and a hot water kettle. Instant coffee, tea, and fresh milk was provided complimentary. There were also two bottles of filtered water in the fridge, free refills are provided at the café. There’s no AC, only a ceiling fan, which was perfectly sufficient to keep us cool. The bed is comfortable, has a big mosquito net and proper bedsheets - we slept very well. I wish they would have a hot, or at least warm shower. The cold water was a bit painful – especially in the morning when outside temperatures are on the low side too. There is no Wifi, neither free nor paid. Café Review Beautiful and cosy setting right next to the ocean. Everything is a bit dated but in ok shape and actually adding to the charm. We tried the special pizza of the day with prawn and pesto sauce. The taste and texture was quite nice. Some people say it’s the best pizza in Honiara, we haven’t any at other places, but overall I would rate the pizza as average. The price was quite high at ~22USD Our second dish was the Tropical Ceviche, served in a coconut shell with big chunks of fish and perfectly balanced lime and coconut cream. This dish was a winner and at ~8USD a much better value than the pizza. Note: prices in Honiara are generally very high. One complaint is the leaky thatched roof. We had to shift tables for 3 times to stay dry. Tip: If you want to travel to and from the central market just take one of the white vans that run frequently and pay 3 Solomon dollar per person.

I spent 3 weeks in the Solomon islands in December, 2019 and during my stay in Honiara, I stayed in Chesters. All the Brothers were extremely helpful and chatty. For my first stay of the trip, I stayed in a room without air conditioning but it did have a fan that helped. As it was run by the Melanesian Brothers, there was a no alcohol, betel nut or smoking policy, but this didn’t affect me, as there were plenty of other places to do this. The rooms were clean and there was a well equipped kitchen and lovely living area for guests to chat and meet other people staying there. During my time in Honiara, Chesters was ideal, It is close to food and clothes shops and most importantly the central market. Furthermore, whilst it wasn’t amazing, the wifi there was extremely helpful. It was strong enough to load messages on whatsapp and facebook to contact family and friends and the odd youtube video, if you were lucky. Whilst I stayed there, I was able to see the Mataniko Falls, Bonegi Beach, the US war Memorial and much more. To get around, I used the ‘bus’ system they had in Honiara and this was not only a lot cheaper than a taxi, but extremely useful and efficient. In general, it was 10SBD per KM in a taxi whereas, it was just 3-5SBD in the ‘bus’ system depending on how far you were travelling. Due to the fact that I visited Chesters in the lead up to Christmas, every night the Brothers would practise their carol singing. This was extremely beautiful and uplifting. Due to unforeseen circumstances, my flight to leave the Solomon Islands was cancelled and I had to stay in Honiara for 2 extra nights. I returned to Chesters, who couldn’t have been more welcoming and accommodating not only being able to fit me into a room, but also a room that had A/C for no extra cost. This was an absolute blessing, as it was extremely humid.

These rooms are smaller than the upstairs ones, but have a kitchen shared between 3 rooms, and great views from the verandah. Perfect for couples and those of us who prefer not to climb too many stairs. Each room has a table and chairs outside on the balcony.

Royal Plains hotel has very friendly staff, it's well run and very convenient for me. It's a little out of town but local buses run nearby, and it has good facilities. It also has a local feel which I really enjoy.

I can't recommend Vavaghio enough! If you want to really experience this beautiful region, this is the only way to do it properly. The manager Gary and his family were so welcoming and were constantly on hand making sure we were comfortable and happy. We're not surfers and were visiting mainly for a relaxing stay and to enjoy the amazing abundant wildlife in the Solomons. Gary and in particular the incredibly knowledgeable Jason were full of tips on where to snorkel and trek to see wildlife - staying at Vavaghio you get local knowledge that you just won't get staying in more touristy places. We stayed for 17 nights and found there was so much to do and see - we also visited some of the nearby villages where the locals were very happy to meet us and talk to us about the region. Incredibly friendly and welcoming people. The food was fantastic and lots of it. Bring your appetite! Lots of fish for obvious reasons, fresh caught that day. And cold beers and tea and coffee always available. The other amenities were very comfortable - western style toilet and bathroom situated very close to the guest houses. No hot water but in the hot climate you wouldn't want a warm shower anyway. Trips to the Arnavon islands can be arranged at a reasonable extra cost - you'd be mad to not visit! Mindblowing reefs and incredible wildlife, turquoise water and white sand - whilst there we saw two hawksbill turtles laying as well as a brood hatching and making their dash to the ocean - a very special moment in our trip! The rangers at the Arnavons are very friendly and there's a basic but adequate guest house on the island. We stayed two nights but could easily have stayed for three. The costs of excursions and accommodation go directly towards the ranger's wages and upkeep of the conservation efforts on the islands - all the more reason to visit. A few reviews on here point to the unreliability of Solomon Air - it's probably a good idea to allow a margin of error for your return journey if you need to meet onward connections. Having said that, Gary was incredibly helpful when we encountered a delay that was obviously completely outside his control (bad weather) and ultimately Solomon Air bent over backwards to help, rerouting a flight to make sure we met our international connections. Don't let this put you off - just allow a little time in case of delays. If the place was simple and easy to get to and away from, it wouldn't be as untouched and beautiful as it is! All in all our stay was even better than we hoped and we were sad to leave.

I find myself coming back to Iron Bottom Sound for many reasons, the facilities are great (comparitively speaking). The rooms have all you need just to keep you occupied, tea facilities; fridge, tv (but limited programs, don't bank on a multiple channel tv); air condition (it works) and a beautiful sea view (free of course). Also good access to one of Honiara's newest eatery across the street from the hotel. The hotel is also near the important offices if you are here for a meeting, right next to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs if that's your meeting spot... Rooms are cleaned daily and aso fresh towels daily. And for Honiara hotel costs with all its perks, this is a good deal. Oh, you can free internet but only at the reception area, but do bring your mossies spray, they come out looking for a feast in the evening.

The owners are wonderful & do their best to assist. One of our group had to travel to Ulawa & the boss sent his men to look after James - it was a neccesity as the waters are open..you can end up anywhere like Vanuatu or Temotu or totally be lost. They prepare a great breakfast & superb dinner. Lunch you can grab next door at a cafe...The Solomon Airlines office is just next door so every thing at hand.

Over looking the Point Cruz habour view and tucked on the hillside of lower Vavaya Ridge is Rekona Flourish accommodation. It is a 9 budget suit rooms furnished with a queenside bed plus a single bed, The rooms have Tea making facilities, TV and ceiling fans. It has a fully functioning kitchen, and dinning areas in which you can cook your food or bring your takeaway packs to eat.
A lovely large, clean room with a balcony with a million dollar view of Iron Bottom sound, Ngella, Savo & Point Cruz. Nice communal cooking, fan, air con & fridge in room. A short walk to central market, but far enough away not to get traffic noise. Excellent for modest accommodation.
