Things to do in Rila
A Bulgarian restaurant, situated in a unique spot between the forest and along the river. We offer a varied cuisine with Bulgarian influences, vegetarian options, barbecue, (mid)Eastern cuisine.
the location is nice a lot of green nearby, a playground for children as wellbut the food is very average and the service doesn't deserve a tip
The decor is strange, very formal. The service slow, as if the staff couldn't quite be bothered. However, the food was good and made up for the other quirks. Perhaps the oddest thing? From outside you have no idea if it is open or even a restaurant!

The terrace is beautiful and the service was friendly and fast. But the most important thing, the food, was not convincing. The mushrooms tasted like can-mushrooms and also the sauce and the smashed potatoes tasted like supermarket packets. The meat was okay. In sum, the food was okay, but not more. Maybe I just ordered the wrong dish, but for 9⬠(which is not cheap for Bulgaria) this should not happen!

Typical Bulgarian restaurant, located in the village of Rila on the road of the same monastery. Classic Bulgarian cuisine, using old recipes from the monastery. Nice place to spend a while enjoying our delights in good company, our trout and the wine of t
Genuinely a positive surprise. Brand new furniture / decor. Clean bathrooms. Super friendly service (speaks decent English and Spanish). Reasonable menu. Food was good, coffee/cake was also good. Prices were extremely reasonably (...and things âoff menuâ werenât a rip off). We came for coffee first on the way to Rila Monastary, and then decided to come back for lunch on the return journey. Highly recommend. (Also an ATM nearby)

Travelled to Borovets in Feb 2019 and ate here on one night. Overall food was average at best especially compared to previous visits and bizarrely the various courses didnât all come out anywhere near together i.e. me and my daughter got our starters 15 minutes before the other people did, the mains came out at varied intervals and some people had ordered portions of chips which came out 10 minutes before their main meals, one person didnât get their main until after all the other people had finished. The duck trilogy which is normally fantastic was overcooked and so a big disappointment. It was a Friday night and so it was busy, but we felt as if we were getting short changed. Weirdly my starter, the trout ceviche was fantastic unlike other courses. Atmosphere and décor is good and waiting on staff very friendly but the food/service is not a patch on what it has been in the past. However prices are still very reasonable compared to the ski resort prices you pay so maybe itâs worth trying it midweek when they are quieter but personally we probably wonât go back unless things change.

Grill and steak-house that also offers excellent post skiing pancakes and hot chocolate. Very friedly and helpful staff including Blaumen (the bow-tie man).
What a gem of a restaurant where you are well looked after from the moment you arrive that it is like having a cosy meal with the family.Great choice on the menu, and the owner / waiter assists you with your selections with hisvown personal recommendations, which did not dissapoint. If we had been in Borovets longer than the few days we were there, this would have been the only restaurant which truly deserved a 2nd visit. All in all it was great with not a single negative comment from any of our party.

You already have Hotel Alpin Borovets on the site, however I want to rate only the restaurant.
Part of the Alpin Hotel, we were seated by the window and to our delight, a hot radiator! The menu is varied with dishes from around Europe and wider. We shared the traditional Bulgarian baked cheese dish which was divine, then I opted for another Bulgarian dish for my main. This stew was tasty and warmed me right up. The food came out when it was ready, therefore we had the cheese simultaneously as our mains.Tried & Tasted: Baked Cheese with Honey & Walnuts; Chicken Gyuvech with Rustic Bread
