The restaurant is part of Hotel Knapp, beautifully situated in the middle of the forest next to a converted water mill. The dining rooms have a lot of history attached, there being the Danish and the German salon, both with historical photos and paintings relating the Danish and German royal families. There is a veranda outside with a view to the lake, where you can enjoy a glass before dinner. We had a three course dinner and opted for the wine menu. The dinner was very tasty and well-presented. Next time I would, however, choose wine from the wine list as we found that the wine menu included the house wine.

30 people or thereabouts with half of that teenagers...rowdy...and fun lunch in what used to be the stables...the food buffet style and Danish was delicious...tea and coffee and desert served outdoors was enjoyed by all that were not shopping in their upstairs shop! A great time...and what a super brunch place...

As a fairly regular visitor to Sonderborg, I have eaten at a number of the restaurants in the town over the years; the Colosseum never fails to deliver great food and fantastic service in a lovely environment, it's ideally located by the waterside and I can highly recommend "The Kings Dish" (house speciality) as well as the many meat and fish dishes.Highly Recommended.

My wife and I celebrated our recent wedding anniversary with a 'gourmet stay' at Fakkelgaarden. When we arived there was a complimentary bottle of champagne waiting. The champagne combined with the panoramic view over 'Flensborg Fjord' from our room while we enjoyed it was a perfect introduction to dinner. The very nice 4 course dinner was served in the round tower. The waiters were very attentive and took their time to explain about the food and the wine. The normal priceses may be a little high, but if you look around you can find good discounts.

This wonderfully restored house serves mouthwatering dinners with very good and well-paired wines. Got a tour of their wine cellar which has numerous fantastic vintages in stock. The waiter/sommelier was extremely knowledgeable of wines. Just meeting him was worth the evening. However, the chefs also did them proud and the interior and décor are great.

Fakkelgaarden is a historic place with a great atmosphere. You feel welcome from the first touch points with the staff, which are highly skilled and professional. The restaurant is on gourmet level and defiantly in top 10 in Denmark. Also compared to northern Germany Fakkelgaarden is one of the most visits. The kitchen varies the menu due to the saison and the are experienced in getting the absolute maximum out of the raw materials. Every dish gets explained in front of you table on both Danish, German and English. Most visit - you mouth/stomach won't regret.

Adding to my older Review some more things you might find useful:The menu is on the Website and changes daily due to what is on stock. Their kitchen is part of the experience with a drink to start and you can see them working and preparing the dishes. No deep frozen Food at all (no place to stock it) and what is bought on a day is used on that day for the menuReservations required due to the System.Fully worth the small detour from the main Highway.

Located within walking distance of Gråsten Palace and in the heart of downtown Gråsten you will find this little restaurant very quaint and quiet. More importantly it is a place where you can sit and enjoy genuine and great-tasting Danish cuisine. The menu items are reasonably priced. The service is wonderful and the servers are very friendly.On-street, free parking is available.
