Located in the heart of water village Rastoke (100km from Zagreb, 30km from National park Plitvice) surrounded by the rivers Korana and Slunjcica, tavern "Pod Rastockim krovom" offers homemade cooking based on traditional recipies. We offer local specialties such as "proja"(special bread from 5 types of grain - corn, rye, mullet, barley and wheat) and polenta. We also offer fresh trout from our fish pond (in many ways), fresh soups, homemade noodles/gnocchi, various salads, meat and vegetarian dishes, pancakes, doughnuts, strudal and much more. After a nice meal we recommend a walk on our property where you can see 3 biggest Waterfalls in Rastoke named Buk, Vilina kosa and Hrvoje, mill from the 18th st., traditional washing mashine, Winnetou totem, ethno collection and a cave. We are excited to welcome you to our small piece of nature heaven.
All places are breathtaking
Ok food can be better, and wider offer but definitely not overpriced
Mushrooms Soup very nice
Cheese with sour cream awesome but small portions
River fish "pastrva" nice and juicy..
Diplomat pancakes...hm if you are pancakes lovers don't take it...its something between cream cake and pancakes in butter shades

If you can go even little of your route to visit Rastoke, it’s worth it. Pleasant staff, great food and surrounding to calm you mind and soul. My recomandation is smoked trout salad, it’s a meal, not a starter or a side dish.

Well known Lika lamb, veal, venison dishes, fish and vegetarian specialties will satisfy the most delicate palate. Our restaurant contains 250 chairs, a bar providing 50 seats, a sunny Terrace with 150 chairs and a conference hall with 40 seats above the main hall, equipped with the latest technology for seminars. Warm soft colors and a complete wooden interior will create a relaxing atmosphere for a good time and enjoyment. As the latest addition to our extensive variety of dishes, in addition to a variety of desserts, we can present with great pleasure homemade pastries and delicacies of the local area. To this end, the team was joined by a pastry chef with years of experience in making homemade cakes. We invite you to taste some of the delicacies!
We went kayaking in thee most incredibly clean water. The setting... incredibly clean turquoise water, breathtaking cliffs, Forests and Waterfalls. Coupled with jumping off little cliffs into the water. We had so much fun trying to kayak together after doing a few circles but going down the Waterfalls was exhilarating and well controlled by our guide. I would highly recommend this company for their professionalism.

What's with the service industry in Croatia? Everyone is grumpy, terse and unhappy.
Anyway....this place was recommended to us, probably by the owner's cousin. Food was fair, but so much was unavailable. Our first three requests from there menu was met with a "we don't have that." How about a "sorry, we don't have that. Try the....." or tell us up front what is and what isn't available.
Even our first drink from their menu met the same response, "no, we don't have."
Would never return, until they care about their customers.

After visiting Plitvice National Park, we headed towards a highly recommended restaurant, and sadly, it happened to be closed for that evening. Reviews weren't very good of any of the nearby places and we backtracked and decided to stop at Feniks because when passing it, we noticed there were many cars in the parking lot (lots of customers is "usually" a good sign) and it was conveniently located right off the main road. Turns out, the food was quite mediocre, tasteless and probably the worst meal we had in all of Europe (5 countries) that we traveled! We had soup, fried calamari, fish, chicken - all very disappointing. The prices were not in line with the cheap quality of food, service was good and English spoken, but it feels very much like a "tourist trap" type of place. We did find out the reason for all the cars - they were hosting a wedding reception.
