Our tour group of 22 ate dinner here in late September. The restaurant was located within a short walking distance of our hotel. We dined upstairs in this modern pub, which is furnished with wooden tables overlooked by polished copper brewing vats.Everyone feasted on chicken noodle soup, Slovak beef goulash and dumplings while quaffing some of Slovakia's finest beer. Desert was superb sweet delicacy: a whipped cream-filled torte. It was a very nice evening here, which my spouse and I--and everyone else in our group--enjoyed immensely!

We stayed here in August this year on the campsite. The restaurant was on the site so we decided to go for a meal there. We had a lovely Slovakian meal very local and rustic.Service was good though it did close early but after a meal and a couple of beers we were ready for our bed.I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are ever in this part of Slovakia.

Yes, the koliba (hut of shepherds) definitely fits to the surrounding nature. It is worth driving out of the highway. There is typical Slovak cuisine accompanied by daily menu (choice from several meals offered during lunch hours, typically 11-14). My choice, beef stew on garlic, was quite average, however, meals of my companions, not picked from the daily menu, were very tasty. A bit above average, all in all.

The restaurant Maly Mlyn (means "Small Mill" in Slovak) located like 100 meters from the border between Slovakia and Hungary along the route 71 (continues to Salgótarján and towards Budapest in Hungary as route 21). The scenery is really beautiful, with hills, meadows and small farms around, a typical Slovak Tatry-style feeling (well, the real Tatry are pretty far away from there but the landscape is similar), a great surrounding for a nice eating. The family-owned restaurant offer high quality, very nicely presented dishes for every taste: they have typical Slovak dishes (one must try Gazdovsky talier or tenderloin with cabbage and knedlyk - sorry, my Slovak is very weak!), international dishes, old fashioned, super tasty soups and talented Central European desserts, like palacinky, another must try for everyone! The prices are very competitive, we had a great lunch with soup, main dish, dessert, drinks and coffee for EUR 28 for two last Saturday. (It is possible to pay with Euros and Hungarian Forints but no credit cards are accepted yet.)The staff is very friendly, guest-orientated (prepare to much friendlier service than in an expensive, trendy restaurant!) and 100% bi-lingual (Slovak and Hungarian but I'm sure they do speak English and/or German as well). One can reach Maly Mlyn from the center of Budapest in like 90 minutes, we visit them 3-4 times a year, always a spotless, great experience, I suggest everyone to try it.
