I was looking for a couples weekend away and this hotel looked so nice from the website and reviews that I booked directly on their site and paid more to stay in one of their loft style suites in their modern wing. Some of my views: The room was ok but was laid out in a peculiar way. Tiny shower, separate toilet, bed upstairs from the living area with no tv in the bedroom area although there was space for one. The sofa in the sitting area, where the tv was placed, wasn’t comfortable enough to seat two people. Airconditioning worked well though, the room and hotel are very clean and the bed is comfortable. However, there were flimsy plastic cups in the bathroom, not enough towels (just one per person and no hand towels), and a dispenser with combination hand soap and shampoo at both sink and shower, but no other bathroom amenities like lotion etc. To give you an idea of the standard- the 3* Holiday Inn Express where my husband stays sometimes for work is better equipped. There is a Nespresso in the room but there wasn’t enough milk nor was there any sugar. The bar and restaurant options were ok, consisting of a bistro and a fine dining restaurant, but the door to the bistro kitchen being open onto the main passageway through the hotel so that the smells from the kitchen escape into the reception area is not a great highlight. The bistro, where we had a drink is quite nicely appointed but boasts challenging prices for this location - €22 for two drinks in comparison to €14 on the square in the town for similar, if not better drinks. The breakfast area was attended by one or two cleaning staff in the morning but for the price (a startling €43 for breakfast for two people on top of the base room price of €134) I would have expected at least for the breakfast tables to be laid, a host to be present to welcome guests and for someone to serve drinks. Compare this breakfast and service to Bruges Dukes Palace in the same price range, which has all of the aforementioned, and this hotel comes up lacking. There was also a lack of information at the front desk about what to do in Sittard, where to go, how to get to the tourist office etc. Prior to arrival we weren’t informed about the hotel parking garage which led to confusion - this could be avoided by placing this information in the welcome email. If the hotel wants to charge higher rates they need to back that up with better service and quality in their product and more engagement from their staff. The building is beautiful and this could be a fantastic weekend couples experience as Sittard is quite historical especially for those researching genealogy etc but as it is today I believe that visitors to the Merici might only be here if they are have business or family in the area.

We got a family room: queen bed and bunk beds. The kids preferred that to sharing a pull out sofa. The bathroom was divided (with walls and locks) into 3 areas: toilet, shower and sink could use all at the same time while ensuring privacy for each.

A hotel, café, restaurant and appartment in one! There are plenty of shops for the shoppers among us and another advantage is that de Limbourg Sittard is on the market, in the heart of Sittard, surrounded by great cafes and restaurants. So enjoy! There is plenty of connection from the market to the station, you can walk, but also go by bus! The station is about 700 meters and you are there within 2 minutes by bus. From the station, you can easily make day trips to Maastricht, Eindhoven, Roermond. There is a good connection with the bus and train.
The location of the hotel is great, right in the centre and our room (22) overlooked the square. The breakfast was good. The staff is friendly and helpful. The terrace in front is a great location to watch the world go by, the food was so-so. Be aware that trucks load and offload from 7am, so if you were hoping for a lie in this is unlikely. The room was modern, but small. The bathroom was the smallest we ever saw. You have to snake yourself round the sink to sit on the loo. No lift, so if you have heavy luggage you will be exercising your arms.

Booked this hotel last minute and had a single - comfort room. Check in was no problem and the lady that checked me in was very friendly. The room on the 2nd floor was small and had a low ceiling and.....it was HOT. I was told that I could get a fan should I need one I didn't hesitate to ask for one and within 15 minutes it was brought to my room. It helped a bit..... . There was a small window but could not leave it open as there was a lot of traffic noise. Compared to the room the bathroom was quite spacious. Shower/tub combination, toilet and wash basin. I cannot say I woke up rested. I think it was close to 90F in the room. Breakfast....it was ok mainly because the OJ was good and there was yoghurt, but croissant I had was just heated and definitely not fresh. Considering the stars this hotel has you should be able to expect more. At least that your items are fresh!! The trainstation is close by as is the shopping center and a large supermarket (AH). I am not sure if I would stay here again. Has nothing to do with the staff, but more with the heat in the rooms and breakfast experience.

Hotel is very conveniently located, next to train station. I booked through Expedia, (sorry Tripadvisor) so I wasn't sure if I would get a room I liked (quiet, not facing train station), but I got a spacious room, with fridge, good-size TV, and nice size bathroom. It faced an adjacent wall, but they had painted the wall white and installed a great big banner showing the city skyline - smart thinking! Room was quiet and had windows you could open. Couldn't figure out how to use the thermostat to make the room warmer, but it didn't get too cold. Staff friendly. There is an adjacent, walk-in pub/restaurant, but didn't use it. Only real 'complaint' was the soap and shampoo supplies. You have to squeeze the soap out of a wall dispenser, instead of a bar of soap, and the shampoo/conditioner is combined in one little bottle, of dubious quality. Plenty of hot water available. Be sure to wander through beautiful, historic Leeuwarden. On Friday afternoons, there is a farmers' market in the open plaza next to the Museum. You can buy fresh, made before your eyes waffles. On Saturdays at noon, there is a free (you can tip at the end) English-speaking tour of the town that leaves from the plaza near the leaning church tower. Our guide, Meike, (I think) was very good. Lots of interesting people came from this small town - artist M.C. Escher, and Mata Hari! Lots of beautiful old buildings, as well. Plenty of restaurants where you can sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere of old Leeuwarden.

Aanrader!
