Transportation is not so convenient and I took a taxi travelling from Taichung Airport to there. The place is quite quiet and suitable for meditation. I also booked the TWD500 dinner as we arrived there at about 8 pm. The meal is good except the steamed fish. Nice place to go but you have to be aware of the mosquito there. :)

This is my second trip to Taiwan and after travelling around both Taiwan and lots of other places (Europe, Africa, Americas and other parts of China) I have to say I think old5 is the BEST PLACE I have EVER stayed. What was so great about it? The very short version; beautiful traditional setting and natural scenery, a chance to try traditional Taiwanese meals (both vegan and GF available), really nice local activities such as farm tours, yoga and a really helpful host who speaks fluent English which makes this a great way for Western tourists to experience Taiwanese rural culture. Setting: The setting and architecture are fantastic; the house is Taiwanese style with a Japanese influence and the rooms are delightful in the Japanese style with a tea platform and tea set for personal use. The grounds are also amazing with wild large trees, wild orchids and views of the mountains from the balcony. Food: Breakfast and dinner are provided. What’s great about it is the chance to sample authentic dishes and the chef can do dietary requirements. We had melon soup, spiced tofu, fried greens, bamboo shoots and steamed bread that is flavoured with different locally grown fruits and spices. The guesthouse also produced vinegar with interesting flavours including a pine-needle flavour that is surprisingly tasty. Tours/Activities: Part of the price includes a tour of a local farm growing gourds, dragonfruit and mushrooms. At night you can do an English language tour of the grounds with Tiffany to see frogs and fireflys. Yoga classes twice a day in a traditional Japanese style house are also included (although I sprained my ankle hiking so we didn’t try these). Service The service is absolutely excellent. My husband left his wedding ring in the room and they drove it to the next hotel (a 30 min drive away) then refused at tip for the delivery! They also helped me procure bandages for my injure ankle and were available for anything else we needed. The service and hospitality was really above and beyond. Note that a lot of families stay at Old5 and they don’t allow alcohol. We went to recharge after a big hiking trip before we went on to Taipei to do some partying and shopping. I would recommend Old5 GuestHouse as a relaxing, rejuvenating and culturally fascinating experience not necessarily to come by for English speakers in China.

For travelers who want to take in the sights and sounds of Nantou, Ciaoer B&B is the perfect choice. From here, guests can enjoy easy access to all that the lively city has to offer. For those of you who want to venture out, Shueishe Visitors Center, Meihe Garden, Xiangshan Visitor Center are just some of the attractions available to visitors.
Ciaoer B&B was a fantastic surprise. We were looked after by the family who run the B&B and they even stayed open later for us to check in. The room was also spacious and we loved it! Recommend this B&B over the expensive hotels in the area!

In a small town in rural Taiwan, reachable by train, and very close to the beautiful Sun Moon lake, and to many tea farms worth a visit, we found by chance this lovely resort. They have fantastic big rooms, a luscious garden, luxurious bathrooms with a japanese bath, a swimming pool and private car parking. We got it at a very friendly price, and got a warm reception and some help to get around. It is conveniently located in the centre of a small town, with a few restaurants and shops at a minute walk, but still extremely quiet. We found it a little piece of paradise! www.moon-garden.com.tw

趁著過年出遊賞櫻,水里民宿不多,但這間民宿風格讓我很喜歡,房間與客廳分開,空間很舒適,設備也完善,而且周遭很安靜,早餐還可以到自家咖啡館享用,讓我很滿意。

I stayed here only for one night after a trip to the Yu Shan mountain. The hotel is managed by a lovely family. I had a really good time there. The young daughter is speaking perfect English. The room was really big and comfortable. Another highlight was the breakfast. This was actually my best breakfast in Taiwan! They order it from a restaurant next to the hotel. In the evening you can chase your menu for the next morning. I just want to say THANK YOU for such a pleasant staying!
