Stopped in for breakfast and a cuppa and this small, unpretentious place had good food and coffee. I can see why people recommend coming here and i would say the same. Food is not complicated but it is tasty and the coffee was very nice. In the area, go for it!

Dined here on the weekend with a small group (7 people) for a special occasion. We had made a reservation and arrived just prior to the time at 7pm.We were seated promptly and given menus, and drink orders taken. Drinks were delivered quickly but then there was quite a delay before someone returned to take our order (approx 30 minutes). There was another large group in the restaurant (approx 20 people) which seemed to take a lot of the attention. Other than this group there was only a couple of other tables occupied, so not a large number of diners. Our entrees eventually arrived between 30-40 minutes later, delivered separately over that period, so some people were almost finished eating before other dishes arrived. One of our group ordered natural oysters, but were delivered as Kilpatrick. When we questioned it we were told "that's what you ordered". We convinced them to take it back, but we were then told they had "run out of oysters" to deliver as ordered. We ended up having the Kilpatrick ones returned to eat out of frustration with the delay. The other starters were simple (garlic bread, bruschetta and salad) and were satisfactory. When it came tour main course, these were delivered almost an hour later, but once again were not delivered together. The Osso Bucco came first (which was tough and dry despite the sauce) and we were almost finished before the other dishes came. We had to follow up with the waitress for the other dishes and were told that she "couldn't control the order from the kitchen". The other dishes were salmon (extremely overcooked), fillet steak with red wine risotto (very stodgy), and steaks - which were OK and cooked appropriately to order. We complained to the head waitress when she collected out plates, and she even guessed the issue with the risotto before mentioning the problem - must have been commented on previously. The waitress brought out the chef the speak to us, and all we got was that our meals were delayed because ours was the last order in - not really our fault. This was not a pleasant experience, and although they acknowledged there had been issues by giving us a discount, we did not have any confidence that anything would change. I believe additional kitchen staff and more training on customer service would be very beneficial here.Dear Sir. Firstly we would like to apologise for our failure to make your dinning event special. We realise that when people attend a restaurant they wish to come away with a satisfied feeling and not upset, we are sorry your experience was less than satisfying. I was not aware of the issues presenting themselves at the time (I was only advised after your party left). The waitress advised me that the attitude from some of the people at your table to her was most demeaning and as a result she made a conscious effort not to attend to your table as often as she would normally, this of course only exasperated the situation. It was unfortunate I was unaware of the situation at the time so I could have resolved the issues in a timely manner. As a result we will implement procedures to avoid an occurrence of this again. As for your comments on the food quality we are sorry you and your party did not enjoy it. The timing of your meals was less than desirable and was caused by the party of 20 not arriving on time. They were booked for 6pm but did not all arrive and order until 7pm, the same time you arrived and of course this choked the kitchen.May I suggest you read the many other comments concerning our restaurant and our efforts to bring a satisfying dining experience to our customers. By reading them you will see your experience was out of character with the many satisfied comments we have received from previous customers. Your encounter with us is in no way a reflection on how our restaurant normally functions and we hope you will come again.

Entrée of scallops was very disappointing. Three scallop shells each containing a nice burnt butter, each shell contained two tiny scallops about 1cm diameter and 1cm thick. Seriously if you can't source decent seafood, just take them off the menu and say "out of stock". At $17, this meal was a rip-off. The accompanying 'Crunchy Asian Salad with cashews' was about as Asian as spaghetti bolognese. An Asian dressing may have helped instead of a mayo-based dressing with honey mustard flavours. Mains of surf and turf and baked salmon were nice though - nothing outstanding but honest food and well cooked.

I ordered a vegetarian pizza without sun-dried tomatoes and cheese and the lady charged me $2 less which I find really nice (eating out as a vegan you are used to being charged the same even if you take off ingredients). The pizza was delicious and she also brought it out to my car when it was ready. Drive to the end of the street and enjoy by the water.

It is definitely Bistro/ pub food so if you are looking for a top quality restaurant feed then this is not for you. The food was bad. I like club grub, this was barely edible and quite unpleasant. Schnitzl like shoe leather (I'll include a picture), limp chewy chips. Companion had a T-bone, he suspected this was very budget meat (very, very budget) but when they are charging $22 for it, that's not on. Seafood basket was a chinese-style dish, consisting largely of lettuce, and shaped noodles. And some very token seafood. The club is plastered with signs saying what you can't do, they're everywhere. Including asking people to control their children... this is ignored by patrons. But there was no sign saying you couldn't take your meals outside, to the tables out there. We had started eating when a female stood at the door and shouted, repeatedly, that we could not eat outside. She kept this up until we collected our food and drinks and moved into the stuffy, noisy club interior. All up, a 100% unpleasant experience.

Today myself, my husband and our two young daughters decided to try out the local surf club to try their lunch specials that we have heard so much about. We were made to feel very welcome as soon as we arrived and our daughters loved playing up on the stage. For lunch I had the seafood chowder and my husband and daughters had the coconut curry. The seafood chowder came with toasted buttered bread and the curry came with raita and chutney. Both meals were really nice home-cooked style meals, very filling, and an absolute bargain at $7 each. We look forward to returning and trying some other meals that they have to offer, and I will be sure to try the Devonshire Tea ($5).HiThank you very much for your kind review .We try hard and put all the best indigence into our food. My top recommendation is the Sticky Date Pudding . It is absolutely scrumptious made from a secret family recipe from Granny May .Yes we are very low priced but I hope customers will return often. It was great seeing your children dancing on the stage .Thanks again.Brian ( The Curryman )

Stopped in for lunch and chose a seat outside, our dog was allowed to join us. Hamburgers were excellent in taste and generous in size, not hungry afterwards. The mango smoothies were tasty and also more than generous in size. Nice location by the river at the eastern end of Sussex Inlet. Fairly busy on a holiday weekend but the service was prompt and friendly. Good value.
