Slightly off the beaten track in Kawazu, but worth a visit if you want to eat in an authentic local Izakaya. - Reasonably priced. As a family of 4 with 2 ravenous teenagers and plenty of drinks, it cost us less than Y10,000- Good (not great) food. Locally caught fish each day. A a good mix of dishes including fish, sashimi, ramen, rice dishes, meat skewers, fried chicken and gyoza.- Very friendly family run izakaya. - I get by in Japanese, so ordering was fine, but there are no English menus (it is local!). What I couldn't read, the owners were pleased to show me and tried their best to explain before I ordered.- Very generous portions- One table and bar stools available as well as tatami matted booths and roomsJust a couple of things to be aware of:- It can get busy, so I would recommend making a reservation, particularly on a Saturday- Shut on Sunday- Cash only, cards not accepted- Japanese style toilet onlyThe best dishes we had were:- Grilled Hokke (fish)- Grilled locally caught fish (daily menu)- Grilled meat skewers (pork or chicken, salted [shio] or with sauce [tare])If you are staying in Imaihama or Kawazu and want to eat outside the hotel, I would strongly recommend Robata, Given how busy it was, the locals certainly agree.

We arrived late to our Onsen, Isaribi, and decided to go out for dinner. We walked to this cool, ocean front Izakaya. Very casual and rustic. The owner, chef and bar tender was nice guy, and the food was good. Would like to go back in the warmer months.
