Great local places, one chef spoke good English! Great and very fresh sashimi. Also, as I am Coeliac I asked for now soy sauce, which they easily did. I did not have any reaction, so should have been gluten free. Would really recommend it!

Uchiura is nationally-renowned as the number 1 in horse mackerel aquaculture. It is still full of natural areas, like the deepest bay Suruga Bay and the highest mountain Mt. Fuji in all japan. Ikesuya is a shop and a restaurant, where a variety of culture

This shop is played by the fisheries cooperative union of Takonoura harber in Fuji-city. You can enjoy anchovy rice at there. Of course, the anchovies are catched from Suruga bay. Access time is important to enjoy fresh anchovies. The price spread from 650 jpy to about 1050 jpy. And you can enjoy the fishing in outside of shop. :)

Yesterday we travelled by Shinkansen from Tokyo to Mishima to see friends for a couple of days, First off we went to this great seafood restaurant for lunch, very busy, completely booked so we wrote our name in the waiting book and had a look at the fish market place across the road.As people left they yelled out the next name on the list and in they went, we were called after about 45 minutes.Nothing flash about this fairly big place , after all every one was here for the food not the decor, it is very traditional, nice feel about it. Staff were busy , very friendly and it did not take long for our meal to come out . We had the Horse Mackeral Sashimi , a fried fish & prawn combination and also a very tasty kaizen kakiage. The whole meal was delicious and well worth the wait, it is quite common in Japan to see people waiting to eat at popular restaurants, always a good sign of top food .Bookings are not accepted so go early or be patient if the place is full.If you park in the multi level car park nearby as we did take your parking ticket with you as the restaurant will reimburse you all or part of the parking fee, a nice touch ,For the real authentic seafood place go here for sure.

Lived in Japan for a couple of years been around most of it so have experienced a lot of cuisine in this country. First visit to Shizuoka and although I was only their briefly the quality of the maguro (tuna) made this short stop a highlight. Cannot state in words how beautiful the fresh maguro was, just devine. Also they had many different cuts on offer making it very interesting to try all parts of the fish. So close to the main station its even worth jumping off the shinkansen if you are just passing through.

The food here is hearty and would highly recommend the staple dish which is potato gravy over rice. This restaurant is one of 52 stops on the Edo-era Tokkaido and is represented as stop 21 in a series of 52 famous paintings that depict the Tokkaido. When you step inside the restaurant you feel like a pilgrim walking into a banquet hall with other pilgrims. Given the historical significance of this restaurant as well as the reasonably priced cuisine I would highly recommend making a stop here.
