When you search for 10 best places to eat this name eventually comes up. Well we had a fairly good start when we left Guwahati. My wife being the true north indian following Navratra wouldn't give me company for non vegetarian food. So we and another family ended up ordering dam aalo for breakfast in a dhaba near jorabat. It was amazing. The next stop was Orchid for lunch and we ended up ordering a variety of food worth 1040, where we had vegetable Hakka noodle, pork chilly and curry as well as chicken butter masala. It was even better.
So high on expectations and bit of luck we thought we must go to city hut, one of the most sort out restaurants in Shillong. We pushed our luck and here the disaster struck, the damaalu was horrible , so was the chicken hakka noodles, we also had chicken Biryani which which was equally tasteless.
The other interesting aspect was, when we pointed out about the food especially dam aalo being horrible and we returned it back.

Location Good. Ambience: Average. Our bad luck, the day we landed dere, it was raining crazy. And it was a bamboo hut and we were perched in the first floor. It was bit scary, as dere was a powercut and out there was a thunderstorm We had to wait really long for our burgers, but the wait was worth it. We tried chicken, beef and fish burgers, they were great. Value for money! Can be given a try!

This Cafe Coffee day outlet is located in Police Bazaar and hence a good place to refresh oneself with a cup of coffee. We had their chocolate cake with the coffee and found it much the same as with other CCD outlets. Quick and prompt service.

We had a few vegetarian choices. The grilled sandwiches were too good. The pastries were ok and not so soft. The good thing about the pastries was that there was a good number of eggless ones.

Good location, nice interior and good behaviour; that's all you will get here.
Average Food, very costly, mostly unavailable foods.
We ordered for a soup and fried wantons to start with. We were shocked to see the quantity of the soup as it was not even sufficient for just 1 person and the wantons were absolutely not cooked properly and hardly any chickens we could find in the filling. So we skipped the dinner and paid a whooping bill of Rs.430/-

1st day we had lunch with chilly garlic noodles & Fiery chilly chicken. It was very tasty but havily spiced & tangy. From next day onwards we used to order food but asked them to use less chilly. There various breads like kulcha, nun & tandooris r also good.Next day we had lunch with steamed rice & goan fish curry, which was very tasty. The ambience of the restaurant is good & staffs r very cooperative. The buffet breakfast being served there as complimentary, has got only few varieties but food quality is good

They have an elaborate spread for breakfast, thus take time and have breakfast like a king. most of the items on the menu are home grown with local condiments and food available.

Read excellent reviews abt the restaurant so went with high hopes. The worst dal rice ever had. And the worst momos. The momos were smelling. Had to return it. The staff was uncourteous to apologize and instead said ki this is how they serve. Take it or leave it. Horrible dirty caserole in which they were served. Dosent even qualify for a shady canteen of a factory.. forget being called a restaurant.
