Reviews on Seafood food in Rizhao, Shandong, China. Rizhao (Chinese: 日照) is a prefecture-level city in southeastern Shandong province, China. It is situated on the coastline along the Yellow Sea, and features a major seaport. It borders Qingdao to the northeast, Weifang to the north, Linyi to the west and southwest, and faces Korea and Japan across the Yellow Sea to the east.
Things to do in Rizhao
I lived in Rizhao until recently and the Fu Wai Shan Fang was my favourite restaurant. Two things I liked in particular were the Beijing Kao Ya (Peking Roast Duck) prepared on site (phone ahead to ensure your order) and the fresh seafood & vegetables on display in prepared form as the hostess follows you around keying your order into her little data logger. There is a reasonably comfortably public seating area on the ground floor (where my western friends preferred to eat) and also a number of private rooms upstairs (which my Chinese friends preferred). Tsingtao draft beer is available on tap as well as wines and of course, baiju (Chinese white wine). Located on the south west corner of Beijing Road and Haiqu East Road the restaurant is centrally located in 'new' Rizhao. This made it convenient for me to take my staff for a social business lunch (drinking soya milk) or my expat colleagues (drinking Tsingtao of course), but always remembering to phone ahead to make a room reservation, or to secure that order of Beijing Kao Ya.
