Having heard of Kabula lodge through relatives that have been there before, we were excited to experience camping & tiger fishing at the lodge. Lovely camping sites under huge trees, ample hot water for showers & friendly staff. The lodge however needs maintenance, as it is a bit run down. This was the part of our 2 week trip that we enjoyed the most. The tiger fishing was out of this world & the 6 of us caught a total of 65 tiger fish in 4 days. The manager Kennister & boatsman/guide Roy must be mentioned for their friendly service. We will definitely return!

Tucked away along the banks of the mighty Zambezi River in Western Zambia lies a place of serene beauty and splendour - Mutemwa Lodge. Relax under the shade of indigenous trees and enjoy some of southern Africa's finest bird watching. With the upper Zambezi spreading a kilometre wide beneath your patio, you will soon find that Mutemwa Lodge is a home away from home!
Gavin & Penny Johnson must be amongst the best hosts in Africa! If you love, fishing, birding, peace & quiet, good bush accommodation, good food and wonderful hosts with friendly professional staff then Mutemwa is for you. Gavin & Penny, their daughters and staff went 'out on a limb' to make our stay the absolute best - and it was just that "the best" in every way. The surrounding area and the river becomes 'your world' when you are staying there - nothing is too much trouble and nowhere is too far to take you. Every aspect of our stay exceeded our expectations.

Zambelozi is an upmarket island retreat set in the heart of wilderness with sweeping views of the mighty Zambezi, offering, relaxation and beauty. Situated three hours by road from Livingstone, it is good tiger territory and is a perfect getaway because of its mix relaxation options and activities.
So we decided to try a different lodge for our tiger trip this year and decided on Zambelozi. Our Chris and Rhea were great. The lodge is awesome in terms of accomodation, service and service requests. In terms of tiger fishing it was very disappointing. The guides are not well trained and have limited tiger fishing experience. They only understand trawling and spinning. They know which lures to useand recommend. However they have no knowldge of drift baiting or using live bait. Also no live bait or any form of small fish (bull dogs, etc.) available in the area. Chris did try his best to assist. They need to set up a network with the local fisherman to supply correct size live and or bait fish. It was still a good trip despite the limited number and size of fish that were caught. If fishing is your primary goal then Zambelozi is not the lodge for you. If staying in luxury with great service is what you are after and fishing is just another activity for you, thenZambelozi is for you. My rating is based with fishing as the primary criteria. Had the service and everything else not been so good my rating would have been lower.

I stumbled on this property on a a recent tour of Western Province. It sits on the banks of the mighty Zambezi the beache is amazing and the.tranquility of the place breathtaking. It has 9 rooms nicely furnished with modern amenities. I strongly recommend and look forward to spending some time.
