We attended the Lantern last night for a very special tasting and beverage paring menu for a birthday party. It was outstanding ! The 5 course menu was a gastronomic delight and the drink parings that accompanied each course were amazing â£ï¸We were absolutely blown away by the caliber of the food .... so delicious and they were also a feast for the eyes . We began with some Prosecco and then an appetizer that was so amazing with the most incredible cocktail accompanying it . Then we were presented with a crab cake extraordinaire and it went on from there The "piece de resistance " was the grand finale of an Apple pie presented like you've never had before Can't say enough about this awesome experience

Went for lunch...first time was delicious..we had French onion soup and corned beef on rye. So I was very excited to go back. The restaurant is warm and homey with fire places. 9The menu was pretty small. Asked about soup on this visit and they weren't serving French onion soup until Sunday. How bout the corned beef. Nope. Settled for hamburger that was so burnt I couldn't eat it..stale bun I only took a few bites and cold chewy onion rings. My husband got a different burger but it was pretty awful too. The fries were very good though. So for just a couple burgers with fries and just water to drink it was 45 bucks with tip. McDonalds would have been better unfortunately. I wish they didn't pick and choose days to serve different food...my advice..stay away from the burgers and onion rings.

Quaint "home-style" happy atmosphere. Just like Mom's kitchen with basic kitchen decor. Counter bar seating and tables. Very clean and tidy. Daily newspaper is available to read while you wait for your meal. Menu items are typical of a breakie and lunch cafe with a home cook touch. Service was excellent! Very efficient and still took a moment to chat. Portions are generous. Special orders are not difficult. Prices are very good for the quality and portion. Parking on the street was easy. Especially recommend breakfast however lunch was good as well. Child friendly. Open 7am-1:30pm Saturday to Thursday; and 6:30am to 6:30pm on Friday.

We stopped for lunch, and it was a tight squeeze to sit down, too many tables and it offers little privacy to eat or enjoy your food. The menu ius typical small town diner style, too much grease and nothing too healthy. It was edible and fairly large portions, but nothing that would make me stop in again. My wife complained about hard chunks in her food, but mine was okay.

you don't have to stay here to use restaurant. buffet breakfast. Had a great Prime rib for dinner Friday. Staff is attentive, a bit pricey but well worth it as restaurants go in the area of Buckhorn.

a great meeting spot for dinner before heading to concert. Lots of room to gather, cozy atmosphere offering good food and great service. There is lots of choice on menu, something for everyone at reasonable prices. Service was friendly, efficient and with a smile. Monique checked on us to make sure we were satisfied with our meals and if anything more we were in need of. Made us all feel very welcome. Thank you.

This lovely little cafe recently changed owners but maintained the same staff and quality of food and drink. Great, freshly brewed coffees, cappuccinos, espressos, etc., along with a nice selection of breakfast and lunch foods. Many individual bakery items as well. It is a popular destination that is busy all summer. The quality and prices are very good.

Craft Beer. Fresh Food. Live Music! The Canoe & Paddle is an English pub in the historic Hamblin's building beside the river in downtown Lakefield. Known for 20 craft beers on draught, gourmet pub fare, top notch local entertainment on Saturday nights, an
Ironically, I cannot rate a zero, but would. I have been here before, and was looking forward to lunch on the start of the long weekend. It was 1330h and we sat down. 1340h we ordered a fried chicken sandwich and toad in the hole (on the menu, it stated 5-10 min longer wait). Ok. Great, we're in. At 1410h, server goes to kitchen to check on order... another 10-15 min. Cancel the toad. Just bring the sandwich.... Confers with the kitchen... it will be another 8-10 min. To deep fry a chicken sandwich? NO: walked out. If it takes half an hour more to prep a dish, tell your customer. If you don't have enough staff to serve or cook, tell your customers. I'm not sure we will give it another try. :( disappointed, for sure. Thankyou for taking the time to give us feedback, I am sorry you had a bad experience. With it being the start of a busy long weekend wait times were approaching 30 minutes which was communicated to customers. As you noted, the Toad in the Hole take a 5-10 mins extra, also communicated to you, and we time our food to be ready at the same time so everything is hot and fresh. As such chicken sandwich had not yet been dropped. When you checked at the 30 min mark, we informed you it be 10 more mins for the Toad, and we could do or best for the chicken sandwich but it would likely be another 5-10 given our fryers were in use on another item that was cooking for another minute. We use fresh chicken which is breaded to order and it takes 5-6 minutes to do that and come to temperature - it must reach 165 degrees before we can top and serve it (another 1-2 minutes). You walked out at the 33 minute mark, and the food was ready after 38 minutes. I understand it was hot, you were hungry, and it was frustrating for you but we did our best given the circumstances. If you had not ordered the toad we could have had your meals out sooner. With that said I apologize for the effect this has had on your long weekend and hope it improves!
