The Seafood Cabin is getting a good reputation. Tucked away at the the far end of Skipness next to Skipness Castle, which is another place well worth the visit. Although, it was early I had to try the seafood platter, which is good value, and I wasn't disappointed. A good selection as you would expect but everything was delicious, served with a variety of dips. My wife isn't keen on seafood but there are plenty of salmon options. They also offer a good selection of drinks.

We stayed 3 nights here and thought it was great. The accommodation was perfect, plenty of space, warm and clean; everything you'd ask for. The staff were very helpful and if you are looking at a glamping experience this is really worth doing.

By far, the best place we ate in Tarbert. The atmosphere was comfortable and peaceful. The table was amply sized. The service was good. She was a bit ditsy, but very nice. She was attentive without being intrusiveThe food was CHEAP. However, it was also DELICIOUS! The portions were generous and the quality was very nice. My husband had the veggie lasagna, which came with a garnish salad and chips. Very tasty. I had macaroni and cheese which came with chips. Very nicely prepared and oh so tasty..

With an abundance of world famous local ingredients at our disposal, including Creelers smoked salmon, locally landed seafood, venison and game birds, our chefs create superb meals. Good quality dining and excellent service go hand-in-hand at the West Loc
Just back from this wee break. A few of the items on the dinner menu were unavailable. I put this down to being a wee bit under stocked after new year. But later after reading other reviews, I'm not so sure. It appears to be a regular occurance. However having said that the dinner we had was fine. Chicken for my husband. Vegetarian lattice for myself. Breakfast was good too. Staff were delightful and very informative. All in all a good place to stay for touring the area and catching various ferries. Clean, cosy and comfortable.Hi tiredandhappy,Thank you for your review. Apologies our menu wasn't as varied during your stay as this was down to being unexpectedly busy after Xmas.We proudly use fresh produce from local producers and suppliers for all our meat and fish dishes which unfortunately may mean there can be times when its difficult to replenish stock at short notice when we've been exceptionally busy. We do hope you will return for a better experience in the future.

I was in Tarbert overnight and simply walked up and down the quay looking at the various eating options before settling on Scott's Bistro. I struck lucky because (1) most tables were already reserved and (2) this is a stunningly good restaurant.I started with the tomato soup (a special) and followed with a substantial dish of smoked salmon carbonara with linguine. Both were delicious while the service was outstanding. Great food, excellent service, delightful ambience and reasonably priced.Do make a reservation if you are planning to eat here.

The Islay Frigate Hotel has been under new management since 01/11/2013. John and Marion welcome all customers, old and new. The bar, restaurant and beer garden have undergone refurbishment. Our restaurant has beautiful panoramic views over Tarbert Harbour
Visited this restaurant/cafe for lunch on a wet September afternoon. I cannot reccomend this venue enough. As a coeliac, I love fish and chips and so rarely find good fish and chips. Here at The Islay Frigate Hotel, all their batter is gluten free. They say that their customers can't tell the difference and I have to say, it was excellent. We had a very wet dog with us and, despite being immaculately clean, they were so accomodating: brought out water, a dog treat and made loads of fuss over the dog. I don't remember the name of the team member, who made us feel so welcome, but she said that she had a dog called "Roxie".Thank you again to all at the Islay Frigate for a great lunch.

Had Cullen Skink to start with and was disappointed as although it was tasty, it was very thin and watery with no chunks of fish and a couple of bits of potatoes and overly made up of green strips of leek. This lost a point on the score, but the main course was absolutely superb and a dish to be remembered. Full of flavour with freshest ingredients and the seabed linguine dish and the seafood platter were both delicious. Wine was also excellent, although our first choice was unavailable, the alternative offered was prefect.

Fully licensed seafood restaurant in Tarbert, Loch Fyne, specialising in locally sourced fresh fish and shellfish prepared with simplicity and care. Full menu and daily specials with meat and vegetarian options also available, as well as a well appointed
B&B lady recommended this place and we got the last table on a Saturday night. Lucky us. If you like seafood then youâll be in heaven. The food was delicious and when we asked for a half portion it was duly agreed. The wine was excellent - not often you find a negroamaro by the glass - a favourite grape of mine. The place was bustling. The service was efficient and friendly. Could not find fault.
