just had an evening in Beijng Banquet. Having been to a number of this type of eatery i can say this is up with best. It must be said we arrived for the first evening sitting so everything had just been laid out. The food was amazing and the staff were terrific in clearing the table between each course. The price of this visit gave excellent value for money and we would not hesitate to go back soon.

Macau Kitchen offers unique Macanese cuisine has it's root in Portuguese cuisine, but is distinguished by it's Asian influences from Goa, Malacca and Southern China. Brings together the the very best of Portuguese and South East Asian culinary traditions,
Highly recommended this restaurant if you want to taste and fodder yourself with nutritious foods. I simply expect more than aesthetics, I am very traditionalist at food. I had tried before Ba Ku Teh, on a different version, but this one was heavenly. When you see those pieces of meat falling of the rib bones, and the precious herbs as licorice giving an extra flavor to your lunch, you feel reassured, and looked after. I went to the smaller version of Macau Kitchen at West Crosscauseway to eat, there you will find usually 4 courses you can eat sitting or take away. All the food takes in average 2 or even 4 hours to cook. The space is small, the menu is minimal, but its that the way I like it, because I can have a meal for £10, or £12 if I buy a beverage, and quality is paramount. Sometimes less is more! Drove past on our way home last night and noticed for first time. Decided to return later. Checked out menu online. Do Chinese and Thai. Ordered a chicken red curry and a prawn red curry with coconut jasmine rice. Restaurant quality despite being a wee takeaway. Average price. (£18 for both) Rice in particular very good. Would have happily eaten just a bowl of rice. Very friendly staff. About to become our new favourite - and only a 5 minute drive away - might be dangerous for the purse and the waistline!

Have eaten here for a considerable number of years, at best would rate it as average, but it seems to be going downhill. Ordered a 'Cheung Bau' which I have enjoyed before , but when I got it home , it was an off-brown colour , and each bit of chicken was rock hard, and the sauce coating was like burnt toffee flavoured. Sorry, but this was not a treat , won't be back for a while, until I read some better reviews.

We've now eaten here 3 times in 3 weeks, latest time with whole family. (7 of us) No-one disappointed with meal at all. Food is delicious everytime. From sesame prawn toast with generous topping and a delicious sauce accompaniment to the spare ribs which were falling off their bones and dripping in a delicious sauce. Beef in black bean was popular at our table, beef apparently was tender and a generous portion. I had Bangok Prawns which were spicy and sticky. Just right. Service was very attentive, one of the waitresses was quite new and could perhaps have been taught that it is polite to wait until everyone at the table has finished before clearing plates but that is a minor complaint. Restaurant not busy but takeway seemed non stop. Excellent value for money too, just under £25 a head including 2 courses and a few drinks. Becoming a new firm favourite.
Where to eat Asian food in Musselburgh: The Best Restaurants and Bars

I live in Musselburgh and this is the only decent Chinese restaurant/takeaway in a five mile radius of the town. Most establishments round here specialise in gloopy sauces and stodgy rice, Chef Chi thankfully have neither of these. When ordering a takeaway for collection ask how long it will be before it will be ready. This is a very popular restaurant and waiting times at busy periods can be up to half an hour.Iâve had the occasional sit in meal here too and can thoroughly recommend it.
